Tungsten Jigs
« on: Dec 17, 2012, 01:52 PM »
I bought a couple of these today. Man I need ice I'm spending money like water.

Does anyone use these religiously? Are they worth the xtra money I paid?

I'm getting some to use this year. Being heavier, they should help get your bait down fast when the fish are biting in deep water.

Yes they are Fiska! Where is the distributor I got them from Grand River Bait and Tackle. I love supporting the local business but at $3 piece you will go broke quick.

I like them especially fishing midwinter when gills and crappies are deep. Also keeps your line mostly straight.

They are very heavy, so the quicker you can get your jig to the bottom the quicker you can catch a fish!

I wish they sold all 39 in a kit in one size. The 4mm Handpainted series would move up my Christmas list pretty quickly. I now have 8 different ones.

Cant wait to test them out.

i use fiskas, just received 6 of their 6 packs (36 jigs), and a couple of maki packs from yourbobbersdown, 4 days to my home. i jig religiously with my showdown while waiting for a flag. we are not allowed to use jigs made of lead in small sizes. these are heavier and get your line down quicker, they pound the bottom better and help iliminate line spin in my opinion.

Good question, I made the edit. I should quit drinking during the day...but why, I would be if I was ice fishing!

Funny. I didn't see anything wrong with it and I haven't been drinking. ;)
You can lip (hook) a minnow. Thought maybe you meant ass (hook) a waxy. (Does a waxy have an ass?)

My go-to's for general jigging are tungsten now.  I use Bentley's and after today's outstanding experience with their customer service, I don't forsee using anyone elses, even though I have Fiska's and Marmooska's.  They are absolutely worth the money!

They have their place but I dont care for them as much as some of the others.  I use a very sensitive spring bobber and most of the tungsten jigs seem to be too much weight for my spring.  If I didnt have this type of spring I think I would enjoy them more.  However they do have their place and they do catch fish.  Alot of perch guys that have to get down quick to stay on the school love them.

I use Fiskas with 3lb line with a Power Noodle.  I like to use Little Atoms and Noodles rigged wacky style. The Power Noodle tip bends just enough with the weight of the jig, that I can see when a crappie up bites. Every one I fish with who tries out my rod, ends up ordering one.

I love them in the super micro sizes, makes them fishable in deep water and keeps a straight line in shallow water for finiky fish and seeing or feeling the bite.
