So, let me get this straight:

1. I need to go out into the yard and put a bobber on.
2. Then put on a weight and a snap swivel.
3. After that, I soak it in hot water.
4. Go cat fishing,
5. Then spool the line back on either from the top or the bottom, or clockwise or counterclockwise...
6. while spraying with silicone waterproofer
7. in the grass
8. with a nail in a tree
9. and pinching between my finger and thumb,
10. Then when I get to the lake, I stretch the line out until I get to the bottom.
11. and then flip the bail by hand.
12. while watching a youtube video.

and if I do all of that, finally I will have no line twist!  :-\
LOL
That is how I felt a few years back. Now I know it is just a simple rule of science that when you wind something it induces twist. Stretch it out when you start fishing or go with a straight line reel.

Try some braided line. After using it, I can't stand mono. It still will twist, but memory is nil.

Letting you line rub on the ground will damage it.  If you want proof....buy a microscope.  Check your new line through the microscope before rubbing it through the leaves and fingers and then check the line after it has been dragged through the grass.  You will see that there has been damage to the line.

The best way to untwist a line is to let out line from a moving boat.  Do not add anything to the end of the line.  Then reel in your line back onto the reel spool.

well i certainly dont have the money to buy a microscope just to prove that lol. idk ive never had a line fail after doing this. im pretty careful not to drag it over rocks/concrete/ anything else other than the grass. i cant imagine dragging it through a couple leaves being worse than making a few hundred casts through the guides on your rod.
USE A BOBBER!

;)  Then buy either a fly reel or a baitcasting reel.

If you spend money on a spinning reel and get the line on straight, almost all the trouble goes away.....

x2   draw it against the drag, if I'm down 20 feet, I pull another 1/2 of the total depth off the spool.  Pinch between finger and thumb, wind back up and you are set for the day.

Yes....even the guides on your rod cause damage to the line.  The sun, heat, dust, any kind of friction, stress on the line, twists...they all cause damage to the line.  That's why pros change their lines so often.  It's that the small percentage of advantage that may make a difference.

I bought an Eagle Claw inline reel. The idea looks great. I will see how it works in the real world.

I like to open the bails, and stick all my jigging rods out the windows of my car while driving down the parkway.   The wind will untwist and provide enough tension on the line while reeling it back in to pack what's left really tight on the spool.

I watched a Dave genz video where he stretched out 8 to 10 ft of line prior to fishing. He said it takes the memory out quickly. Seems to work.
