Does anyone know where i can find a free map online of the contours in lake Champlain? Seems everything these days costs $!

How about Champlain maps? Those are all the small lakes and ponds unfortunately.

Good luck trying to find online charts of Champlain. I've Googled it before and always came up empty handed. ??? I finally broke down and purchased some of the "Fishing Hot Spots" maps of Champlain. :) The price is reasonable, they're waterproof, tearproof and the info contained within is definitely worth the $18 bucks or so apiece. Stay away from the Navionics brand of Champlain depth charts unless you have a GPS with a Navionics chip in it. :o I got mine at Lakeshore Hardware in Mallets Bay. 8)

:D Heres an idea for you Stalker. Go to the library and see if they have a copy of "Lake Champlain Atlas of Navigational Charts" published by R.W Vogel out of S. Burlington. It doesn't have many contour lines but does show alot of depths, magnetic compass bearings etc. Pick out the ones you want then zerox or scan 'n' print. They'll help give you an idea and they do show things like cribs and the like. So Merry Christmas and Good Luck to you in your search. Let us know how you do.

I tried getting them online a couple of years ago, but no free ones. I ended up buying one for about $15.

if you go to http://mapserver.mytopo.com/bp/mapserver/index.cfm? (http://mapserver.mytopo.com/bp/mapserver/index.cfm?) you can type in the town or bay that you are looking for and it will return a list that matches. Once you click on the place you want to look at it will load with a topo map but at the top of the map you can chose to look at a NOAA Nautical chart that has depth soundings on it, there is also a cursor that tracks on you mouse which shows lat long at the bottom of the screen. I use this all the time to find new places to try.

Drake: that's the map I bought. I believe I bought it at the Hog Island Bait shop.

The best part about the site is its free and you can look at any part of the lake. You can alo print them to bring with you. I also have the fishing hot spots map (bought it at dicks in williston) which is nice also and worth the $15 I spent.
Cant wait until Thursday to get some fishing in. Hoping that Dillenbeckh some safe ice still.

I bought a hotspots map at the Outdoor Expo down here about 5 years ago. I agree, worth the money.

I found this site to be really useful for finding breaks. Just zoom into your section and click on it, then hit "view" on the right.
