Not sure what spreader pole you mean but I made some poles using pvc pipe and fittings. I used T fittings and hacksawed away enough of the top of the T so it would snap over my poles in my guide. Hacksaw it to get rid of most of the excess material then use a rasp to get it to where it will snap over the pole.
I used this method to make spreaders to push the sides of my guide out to give a little more room and also to cut down on some of the material flapping in the wind.
