I recently moved from Twin Falls ID to Yakima WA.  I'm now closer to North ID and wanted to fish Round lake this weekend with my daughter (her birthday and she want to ice fish with Daddy!).  Can someone give directions ?  I found a couple of Round Lakes when I Googled.  Any suggestions as to the area to fish on the lake?  Thanks in advance for the advice.

Coming from the I90/US95 intersection, go north for about 35 miles. You'll pass Cocolalla Lake on the left. About 2 miles past that you'll come to Dufort Rd. And you'll take a left there. There's signs posted. It's Round Lake state park.

I would fish the area just out in front of the docks. That is where most people ( including me ) have been catching fish. The perch I caught were in about 10-12 feet of water. If you do go farther, watch out for the area around the inlet, as last time I was there it was still open water.

Went out on Avondale for 2 hours and pulled in two decent perch with lots of other bites! 4-5" of nice black ice!

Just got back from  Chase Lake a few minutes ago.  About 5 inches of solid ice and could drive right to the sportsman access on the west side of the lake.  I had my 6 year old with me and while we had several very subtle bites we couldn't hook anything. We were only out from about 3:30 to 4:45.   I did have my camera with me and we could see several perch, largemouth, and pumpkinseed underwater...they just weren't that hungry.  The fish were about 12-18" off the bottom sitting right on the top of the weeds.  We'll try again tomorrow morning.  I'm glad we had the camera to see the fish as it kept my son's interest up as he was getting antsy to pull some in!

Hit Winchester Lake this afternoon...  Lake has 5-6 inches of great, clear ice with 1/2" of snow ontop.  Had a great time, but it was probably my worse outing ever on Winchester.  Buddy and I fish for just over three hours and caught one bass, one perch, three bluegills and twenty-six rainbows.  Damn rainbows were in the water column where the bluegills should've been.  And a majority of those jerks bit just as light as a bluegill.  So you get all excited that you finally found the gills, set the hook and a second later, you knew you had a %&*$ rainbow on!

Have not even been to check the ice at the dock yet and it'll be a while before I do, after a fisherman on Round Lake yesterday,(Thursday), said he had just that morning ,about 9:30, augured and measured the ice at 2 1/2", while standing on the dock. Hopefully a bit cooler mid-week thru next weekend.

I saw some guys out on Cocolalla yesterday (Fri) as I drove by.   I stopped at the boat ramp Thurs. and there were two guys out about a hundred yards.  I walked out to where they were and puckered a little when I saw what looked like no more then three inches of ice.  Good clear ice tho.  If no one falls through this weekend, I think its will be good to go.

Just came home from fishing upper twin. I couldn't believe that there were only 2 groups of fisherman on the entire lake. 5" of good ice, sunny 40 degrees and 40 perch later we left. Awesome day to fish in December

Sediver.  I went to  upper twin last week.  The perch are small 3 to 7 inches.  I caught a lot at round and they all were between 7 to 10 inches.

Yes most of the perch were small but still fun to catch. I will be going to round lake on friday to try that out.

You are right.   It doesn't always matter about size but it is fun to catch them.     Good luck at round lake.

Mirror lake is at 4" of ice now. Went out there this morning and tried jigging for blueback, but didn't even get a bite. Also heard from someone who lives near the lake that he hasn't seen anyone out yet.

Great day for perch @ Fernan today! I went out 10-2 and caught almost 30 fish and 1 nice cutthroat. Only 4 keepers out of the bunch. Had a blast!

The whole lake is frozen. I was out on almost 4". A week ago the outlet had almost 5", so I imagine it's gained an inch or two.

Kelso Lk. I have been out on Kelso twice. The ice is 6in thick. Both times we caught 3 trout on jigs & worms off of the bottom. The fishing was slow.

Hi there! Great forum! New to North Idaho, to this forum, and to ice fishing.
Fished Cocolalla first time on Monday; ice was 3.5+" thick. Caught a nice mess of perch. 10-12 people were on the lake fishing that day.
