Careful out there
« on: Mar 03, 2019, 12:53 PM »
Went out on Long Lake (Valpo) this morning for a few hours.  Ice was 4 1/2 inches or so until I got about 100 yards NE of from the boat ramp.  One week and two good spud hits to water.  Figured I'd let ya'll know.

Strong westerly winds pushed the water to the east. The water must find a path to equilibrium. It returns west somewhere. On Syracuse Lake it is open to the east and south shores with area eroded in between - somewhere. Be careful is the word.
On Wawasee the north shore is open and some fishable spots are questionable at best. Ice is eroding from below. Take a buddy, safety rope, spuds, life jacket, whatever you have. Don't go alone, don't walk together.
