Jasper County Drowning
« on: Feb 23, 2019, 07:39 PM »
My brothers buddy went through today in Jasper County near Rensselaer while ice fishing a pond and didn't make it. He was fishing with a buddy who couldn't get to him in time. Prayers to the family. Sad deal

Damn man I'm sorry to hear that ! Prayers out to the friends and family ! Ponds in our area haven't been safe since the beginning of this season ! I have tried numerous times and never found any good ice at all even threw the cold snap .

Update on this tragedy, he was fishing with his son in law, both of them went through and the son in law made it out to go for help. Be careful guys its not worth losing your life for a few fish when it gets sketchy.

Looked on the map where they were from. South west of Bloomington. Quite a way from Rensselaer.

Thank you ice_mike.  The family will certainly appreciate your thoughts and prayers and those from others.  I do know the survivor and fished with him a couple of weeks ago.  He is a fine person and an avid fisherman that was out for a day of fishing with his wife's Father.  I have a text from him that explains  all of the conditions (before, during, and after) that led to this tragic family event.  Please be assured that some of the comments that have been made in this thread are not only inaccurate, but they are at best insensitive and unthoughtful.  Hopefully we will not have to read anymore stories about our fishing brothers losing their lives or totally changing the lives of their family forever.
