Ouch!
X3... the walk to where I'm fishing is shorter than the walk home... I saw a Suburban (or simular sized vehicle) drive accross Wentworth Saturday..plenty of ice there.. i still am walking..[/quoteHey Joe didn't know you ice fished ,I did not get on the river at all last Summer not 1 striper did I land. You are right it would be a long walk From winni!BB
Could try the old fashion way. WALKING would save a bunch of hassle for the rest of the people now affected.Odd

Just curious.... anyone know what the ice thickness was where the truck went through? Obviously not thick enough, but curious just the same.
Again, I am not a huge fan of car traffic in lower NH, we are on the edge of safe ice most years. But if I was to drive on the ice I would take my beater 1997 ford ranger with 153000 miles rather than my new F150 super cab. I see so many new vehiclels out there. Goodness, why not visit Uncle Henrys and go get a Maine Beater, and get 60 day temp. Plates and use that? Just a thought.Oddfish
Kinda feel like that would be accepting the idea you're willing to let it go down.Under good conditions its perfecly safe to drive on the ice.Thaws, rain, snow, hydrotherms...all add up to disaster. My house is on Meredith and I had already decided the truck wasn't going back on there. Now the ramp is no doubt junk, and closed. Great...
I can se how you could get that interpretation. But I feel it is more like this: you never know for sure what type of ice you have unless you probe every 10 fet or so. Accidents happen to the most prepared. Just ask New drinkers and Dispy. They had 24+ inches of ice and one weak area a few feet wide took out that truck. So, if you are on ice there is always the potential to have an unforeseen accident. Why not (if it happens) let it be a cheap car or truck that you will not miss, just incase Mr. Murphy shows up? I think this is covered in the 7 P's manual.Oddfish
