I'd have to say it is a cross breed of gill and rock bass
"Oh honey don't worry ice fishing season is almost over"     Oh Yeah, then we got steelhead, then bass, then big lake salmon, then fall river salmon........etc.

I believe its a green sunfish on its own or a hybrid green sunfish and gill.  You can buy the hybrids for stocking, my grandfather has them in his pond.  Georgia giants I think there referred too.

Rock bass wouldn't pollute their own superior gene pool.  I'm saying warmouth and a big one at that.

My grandfather got his all male and they did not have the option of reproduceing, to the best of the company's abillity.  They are huge 11-12's in there its been bout 10 or so years.  I think I posted a pic here some time back of an 11.

see thats why i think its a green sunfish.mine reproduce they make beds and fight each other at spawning time.i made an area shallower so i could watch them.they get brilliant colors on them and the males get white running down thier fins.

definatly not a warmouth. im guessing a central long ear sunfish. there are two types and the are native of ohio.
