Any body have good ideas for a hook keeper idea on tipups, instead of using your ice line as a pin cusion?

I have Heritage Laker tip-ups and I attach the line to the wing nut and the spool the remining line and then set my drag so it keep the line tight.

I use a rubber band.Just throw it over the hook and wrap it around the spool and loop it on the outside nail, handle or what ever.It stays tight and doesn't dig into the backing
