Fresh/Frozen herring in WNY

Just wondering if anyone knows where I can get some fresh or frozen herring/sardines in the Buffalo/WNY area.
I've called all the usual seafood joints with no lick. Clark's, Schneider, etc. Thanks in advance

I have seen sardines, frozen in several stored. Herring is not found in WNY

Thanks guys. Stallion, I tried Pellicanos, they only have the stuff soaked in wine sauce. Bob, for bait of course. Where can I get whole sardines not soaked in anything?

I buy  frozen whole smelt heads  on  across the bridge in Fort Erie at the No Frills Store. I will watch for the Sardines there as well. Most of the Sardines I have seen around here are very large, bigger than you would use on Pike or Musky! When I see them again, I will shout to you!
Tops Market has indivudual frozen Smelt, no heads. I have used these to dead stick, for pike in Silver Lake with success.

Question Bob, do you have to declare the herring when you go back over? I know you do for veggies and what not

Hand the Customs Border Patrol Agent the sales slip. Tell him/ her, you have  --- amount in groceries. They never look at anything when you offer the receipt and say groceries. I buy a lot of fish, and pemeal baccon when I go. You can get the Canadian Baccon by the pound pieces, about 3.50 US per lb piece.

Finger Lakes Bait and Tackle in Lakeville.  Guys were cleaning up on pike last week using them.
