the squirrels are what gets the fish on the ice not the struttin' turkeys. days you see squirrels on the way to the lake are better fishin' days.

I've had that itch for awhile now...started when the ice got thin.  Only two months left.

Between working, spring fishing and turkey hunting (which I love the most) my lady only see's me in the bed sleeping. The strutting is only a dominate thing going on right now but I still love to see them strutting and gobble no matter what.

It can't stay cold forever. I've got walleyes to squeeze and taters to plant!  Gill catching has been tough Caz was Sloooow last time I was there,  put the back out recently so have been on the injured reserve for a while.  Tried the nite bite last Friday and came up with the same you guys did the other day we left when the lightening started :o.  I know I know   Wimps!  Did notice one thing about the crappies i did catch on Caz.  They are full of scuds and insects.  Thats a good sign, I've always found them to be much more catchable when they're eating bugs than minnows.  Oh and yeah "Hookin" up would be nice  ;)

You must have been at Guffins Bay. I was there also until the blizzard drove me off. I heard the gobbles early in the morning coming off the roost. Saw the toms the other day. They are some big brutes around that neighborhood. Get there early in the morning and it looks like a deer farm too. Deer just standing around eating and watching you drive by like cattle.

No turkeys here in Rochester, but there's a woodchuck across the creek right now, and it's only 24° out.

I sniped two woodchucks right out of my bathroom window this past summer.
As long as the barrel is kept inside no one can tell where the shot came from.

Okay, while out on the ice yesterday, I saw a  turkey strutting in front of a woodchuck standing in the death pose.  Some guy in the house on the hill smoked him from a window in his house.  It was a heck of a shot, the turkey flew off, and that is when I noticed the three flags, and got a hit on my jig, all at the same time.

We are simply noticing the coming of spring, and the impending end of a  disappointing ice fishing year.

 ;) ;)
