Smelt is swimming at lower of a shelter. That's homemade at a local fishing shop in Japan. That's held and used like an umbrella. I hope that I can fish much smelt.(Japanese ice fishing is smelt fishing)

That's the attachment on which the charge system drill is put.
Because there is horizontal beam, even if it comes off a drill, it doesn't fall in a lake.

Looks like a great place to fish. Being from the East coast of the U.S., we are not fortunate enough to have views like that. Great stuff!

Same here, thanks for your comment. The location of the picture is Lake Hibara in the Japanese national park ”Bandai-Asahi national park” . That place is a very good place. Well, when there is a chance when a shelf travels to Japan. Please go to its place by all means.And fish mark is the charm of the so catch.

Smelt fishing house in Japan. That is floating on the lake(Lake Hibara). There are put in the about 20 to 40 people. There is open from early November until the end of March , it will take charge of about 3,500 yen(about $30) per day.

I most like smelt dish is "Nanbanzuke"
Rice vinegar, soy sauce and soup stock.
Fried smelt, leek, celery and dryness red chili pepper.

Do they fish for anything else through the ice? I have read about open water bass fishing in Japan. What other species do you have? Any trout?? :icefish:

Lake Hibara , bass fishing is a very prosperous , is also open tournament. This ice season , the people of the bass fishing is keen to smelt fishing. Trout also inhabit. But this season(October to March) , trout fishing is a fishing ban.

I see that. There is the fish similar to Japanese fish"Iwana", it was interesting.

Thank you.Ice fishing was the end one weeks ago. Unfortunately, the ice cracked and one person died by lowered body temperature.
I began a boat fishing in the sea. Target fish is righteye flounder. Each other, I hope a lot of fish catch.
