Title: Spoon Storage
Post by: duckbuster on Dec 08, 2018, 10:05 AM
How is everyone storing their spoons?  Do they make box similar to a jig box?  Currently have mine stored in a clear plaino box but it is just not working for me.

Here's what I use: https://www.iceshanty.com/ice_fishing/index.php?topic=360672.msg3863561#msg3863561 (https://www.iceshanty.com/ice_fishing/index.php?topic=360672.msg3863561#msg3863561)

Plus a bunch of other ideas: https://www.iceshanty.com/ice_fishing/index.php?action=search2 (https://www.iceshanty.com/ice_fishing/index.php?action=search2) Just type in "spoon storage".

Basic clear 3600 series for me. My spoons are made by ME and i know my clear isnt going to chip when they touch each other. Slight pain to get one out but not as bad as a crank.

The old style Plano/cheapie KO latches never last. I have yet to break a Plano Pro-Latch.

If you got this within the last year I would contact customer service : [email protected] and let them know want happened. they should take care of it as long as it has been less then a year. I run three of the large size boxes since last season and haven't had a broke latch.

here is the warranty form you would need to fill out :

Ive used clam boxes for years and have never had one break. They are usually bouncing around in my sled under the auger and everything else.

Like the storage for the Gulp jars jbird!   Hope the Sterlite treats you better than it has me. The price point was always attractive but I never found them particularly durable, especially in the cold. But I can be pretty hard on my stuff sometimes...  ::)

I second the clam boxes.  They have worked well for me.

I try not to throw it around too much. It's in a Cabela's bag most of the time with a Plano 3700 thin box. The sterlite latches are not the strongest. They tend to want to flip open on their own. But I was going for inexpensive compared to the boxes I've seen online. I really like the Gulp! 1 inch minnows. But not so much that the jars leak. Have to clean out the box every so often.

Gulp containers are the worst. Big jar, small jar, pouch... They all leak. Even the Plano jars intended for the liquid soaked Gulp. Leaky, leaky, leaky. I had to get some silicone O-rings to get the Plano jars to stop leaking. I think the last Plano ones I saw had silicone seals so perhaps they've solved it if Berkley hasn't.
