How thick do you let the ice get before you guys head out? I hear 2 or 3 inches but kinda sounds freaky to me? :-\

It has to be atleast 4 inches for me.  I've been out when it was 3, but it was definitely not safe.

Same here... 4" minimum. Especially if I'm heading out alone.

Ill do 3in as long as its nice clear solid ice, 6in for a machine

For us clear solid black ice at least 4-5" and 6"  plus before the ice chariot ventures onto the ice.    I always wait on the chariot until I consistently see others out with ATVs and their chariots.
