You may have some water movement after that last warm up we had. The rain and snowmelt was moving like springtime last week.

The lakes usually become very clear this time of year. ???

D All of the above.

Runoff, weeds dying and just poopy wind and currents and all the winter crap thats been sitting around running to the water.

Same thing in most of the waters around here. Run-off mostly, lots of snow melt and a little bit-o-rain. Its just muddy water. Switch to flashier jigs, something easier for the fish to see. Big fish-switch to heavier line, easier to land them and harder for them to see the line.

Same thing on a lake I fish, only in the shallows, I headed to deeper water on the same lake and the water was crystal clear, but no fish. Hit all the fish in the murky water, also a tributary flows in at the same area where the mucky water is being found. Spring will be here soon.... :'( :'( :'(

Ran in to this same thing last weekend. There was so much silt in the water that my camera screen showed nothing but  snow if dropped below 11ft because it could not focus. So to me that explained why the fish where suspended at 12ft in 32 ft of water.

It's very rudimentary my Dear Watson. Storms drains were running overtime into the local Sewage treatment plant so the sewage treatment plant opened up the gates. The fish are biting so well cause they're tired of the same ol' sheet.

I live in the midwest now but have fond memories of fishing in New England as a kid.

Pretty sure it's runoff.  Around here I notice that towards the end of the season too.  At times, the ice even looks a bit brown from refreezing.
