normally on the ol liquid diet when on the ice, but sometimes soup and left over pizza from the night before. However i can cheat a little the lake i fish often has a small resturant on it that we can order for pick-up. Last year it was so cold out it was turning the beer to slush before we could even get half way through them so we packed up most of our stuff and left the tip-ups out and went in there and watched the games had lunch and threw a few back, many not limit out when we fish there but it's always a good time.

Deer, elk, or moose sausage, sometimes canned chunky soup, sunflower seeds.  I honestly rarely take anything but a beverage unless I am going for a whole day which is rare for me.

Summer Sausage, cheese, crackers, subway sandwiches,
thermos of hot coffee or hot chocolate with "special" cream in it...  the irish kind
jerky, beef or venison
beer in cans or a plastic pint of some sort of firestarter
lots of candy bars for kids if they are coming along

any, all, or none of the above have been on the ice for a fishing trip.

I always make some trailmix the night before, and more time than not I bring a few sandwiches and some coffee and soda.  Maybe a bit of jerky if I remember to get some.

Usually after the trip, my dad and I stop at a gas station and get some candy.

My heater is the sunflower heater, so i always have the opportunity for a warm meal. I have a small frying pan and i usually take a ham and cheese sandwich........throw it on the frying pan and warm it up, makes for a great warm meal/snack especially if not using a shanty.

Usually just Jerky and/or Sun Flower seeds & Hot Coffee.  If I'm going to be out for longer than a few hours I might take a sandwich.

People actually EAT venison ::) :P
Boy you can have my share!! Not for me,..We always had a lot of it growing up and I never liked it. Couldn't understand why anyone would eat venison when there was beef in the world,..and no, I don't care HOW its done, I've tried a piece from a whole bunch of rx's

Mostly sandwiches picked up at the local sandwich shop. Sometimes I'll do soup in a thermos. Rarely I will grill something but I'm trying to eat healthier now, but I;ll eat beef once in a while and turkey bacon occasionally. Trying to find better snacks.
I have to say that food may taste the best when out all day.

We used to bring MRE's out, but the cases we hoarded finally ran out.  Now I bring out ham and cheese sandwich's, put plenty of butter on the outside of them, and wrap then in foil.  When you get hungry, flip the heater/cooker on it's side and set them on top.  4 minutes until you have a hot grilled ham and cheese.  Then there is always the venison summer sausage, smoked cheese, and triscuts.

Next to Caribou ,venison is on of the healthiest meats you can eat.For people with heart problems its has the least amount of fat and cholesterol then anything else.Caribou is first and venison is second. When I eat meat it will be one of those two. After that I eat all the fish I can catch.

A couple of years ago i had the idea to take the Mr. Cooker and put a can of Campbells chunky soup on it.
This year i plan on surprising the buddies and cook venison roast with carrots, onions, and potatoes in the crock pot the day before. I will then wrap it in foil and throw on the heater to warm up. When they come over after smelling it i will surprise them with thier own foil packed full of warm food.
I also make a lot of venison jerky and probably will bring some of that too if the people at work don't keep buying it all. I need one more deer before late bow season is over.
  Hope this helps.

All food tastes better on the ice i swear.  I've brought it all on the ice, but i'm getting so that i don't like to lug a ton of stuff around on the ice, so unless i know i'm going to be out 10 hours i bring a sandwich and a brick of cheese and coffee most of the time.

The self heating soup is something i may consider for fishing.  I personally don't like it at home when i can make my own soup or heat chunky, but as stated above i think on the ice it will taste better and it's an easy hot food to warm the bones.

Best food i ever had on the ice was duck kabbobs at the IS get together on Schroon Lake in NY

I go ice fishing to fish, not eat. I don't think I've ever taken food except a couple of times it was more of a party than a fishing excursion.
