Marcum LX-7 Update

I have been neglectful in updating my marcum lx-7 ,and it started acting strange the other day.So I looked at the latest update and it is ver 5.10,I am running 3.17,a bit behind I say...So I had a friend try to do the update, and his PC would not recognize the LX 7???He is a computer guy, and has degrees in computers.Has anyone else had this experience?I am going to call marcum Monday,just wondering if I am the lone fisher if anyone else had this experience, and how they worked thru it.Thanks

He had correct USB cable?
Was the hardware even detected?

My windows 10 machine wouldn't recognize my lx 7. I had to use a  and older machine with windows xp. I should have also said I used the same cable on both machines. It was until I used an older version of windows would the lx 7 get recognized by the computer.

some usb cables are charge cables only.
try it on your own pc with a different usb cable.

We tried two USB cables, and two different laptop computers.The computers wouldn't recognize that the LX-7 was plugged in???Like I said, my friend that helped me is a computer guy,thats his livelyhood,he was stumped?He even went into the bios trying to see if he could find out why this was happening, found nothing that was definitive.

I updated my lx7 quickly with a laptop running windows 10. It worked fine. I did see that the instructions said you need to use a usb 2.0 connector. While usb 3.0 is supposed to be backwards compatible, maybe that's the problem. Some computers have both ports on them. Try using a different usb port on the computer and maybe it will work.

Another  guy had a similiar issue within the last month somewhere here in the forum. He had to call Marcum.

I saw that too, usb 3 is "supposed" to be compatible" with usb three, but I ain't a computer expert either

My screen is orangeish,and the marcum site say it needs "repair" and needs sent in...Does anyone have the Phone # to Marcum,all I can find is email address ?I have the 247th one they built, paid $700 for it, used it maybe 70 times.I would like to have a conversation with someone at marcum, a contact number would be most appericiated.

it has a 2 year warranty and they did help with things outside of the warranty.

Along with using a USB 2 port. Ensure the connection cord is also USB 2.0 compliant. Heard of problems some LX 6-7 users having with that.
