6" Mora that wasn't sharpened for 10 years - not fun
6" Nils - Awesome until my buddy dulled the blade by putting downward pressure.  Resharpened for this year and will keep forever for early ice.
6" Strikemaster Lazer - Good substitute to the Nils

Now I have my 8" Power Auger (Shark Z51) that I havn't even been able to use because of the weather.

I have had a Mora 6" for 10 seasons and I have replaced the blades once with the stainless steel ones. I use it primarily for early ice (if we get some this year!) Cut great,no problem. ;D

I have a Sub-Zero 6" from Canadian Tire, inexpensive auger but works great. Cuts like crazy! I find the ones with the offset handles hard and awkward to twist (like the one pictured above). I like the ones where the upper handle is inline with the auger shaft. Seems like you can get more power to the ice.

For years, I used my dad`s 6 inch swede bore.

Bought a 39.00 Normark Ice Drill from Lebaron last year. Changed the blades right away to real swede bore blades, this thing cuts pretty good for a 39.00 outfit.

I have the Jiffy for when the ice is thick.

i've always used an 8" eskimo, changed over to an 8" eskimo Barracuda...  couldn't be happier, i can drill through 8-9 inches of ice with 10 cranks of the handle!

I found the big difference with the Nils, is the ease at which you crank the handle. Drill one hole with a Nils and any other I've tried, you kinda shrug your shoulders. Drill 10 with each I guarantee you'll reach for the Nils for number 11. It's fast, but it takes way less effort to use it. Both arms do the work, (like bike pedals) Plus you use absolutely no down pressure. It all adds up after a few holes. Try a few kinds, but drill a few holes with each. Best I can explain is the Nils shaves the ice, where most others gouge it. I have a completely rebuilt right shoulder, and it makes a big difference to someone like me. In all fairness, I have not tried all the brands mentioned here, but most. Good luck on your decision.

8" mora at 6'6" and 350 pounds an inch and a half to two inches a turn it make holes pretty quick but drill to many and it can make life on the ice suck in a hurry.
some days I can drink a lot of beer and other days only a case

I have 2 Mora 7-8" augers. They both can use 7 or 8" blades. I prefer the 7" when I use it. I now use my 10" Eskimo Z51.

I use a 6" Mora.  It works ok but gets tiring when drilling through a foot of ice.  Next season I might buy a Nils.

I have an 7" Arctic Express by HT. It works great. I've had it for about 4 years now. I use it on my IceGator and 2 of the welds on the flutes broke. I just had to have them welded back on.

I've had a 7" Strikemaster Lazer for about 6 years now. Love it. I just put new blades on it today. $35.00 for the blades. Thats a drawback.

Went from a mora to a lazer.  Lazer cuts much better can also open up old holes.

Never had problems with the mora, just wanted to upgrade.  Thinking about a nils as next purchase.

6" Finn Bore, cuts like a dream. Can't reopen holes though. The offset handles really works well once you get used to it

Replaced my 8" Mora with a 6" Nils this season and couldn't be happier. The Nils cuts so quickly and easily I don't plan on breaking out my power auger until the ice is over a foot thick, and then only if I'm going to be doing a lot of searching.

I am just getting started and picked up one of the extreme ice augers in 8" from bass pro. Used it today for the first time and so far I am quite happy with it and it was on sale for 40 bucks

First one I ever bought was an Eskimo Barracuda, used it one month before buying my Nils USA. Been using my Nils for the past 3 years and I love it. Ran in to a guy at the lake this past weekend that had just purchased a new propane auger so I asked him what he plans to do with his gas auger. He said he needs the room and would sell it to me for $50.00. Holy cow!!!!! I said. Ran to the bank and now I own an Eskimo power auger as well as the Nils. I will prolly keep the Nils in the truck just in case

I've used an 8" Nils for the past 3 or 4 years.  It puts my old Mora to shame.
