I consider it a tool, and I own lots of expensive tools that I use every year with no regrets on the price I paid for them. Many of the good tools that make a job a lot easier I kick myself for not buying one sooner. Good tool prices normally go up not down. So just go buy it, once you start using it the memory of the high price tag will be gone, and you will be glad you bought one.

A little off topic but did the k drill go through any changes or did the price just go up with demand? I got my 6” for 179 or 189. Can’t remember.

Acmetools has % off sales every once in a while. Keep an eye on amazon. I got mine price matched from glensoutdoors when I got it. Just google every so often and check the prices.

I don't believe so, the 6" has been cheaper than the 8. I asked for vendor employee discount pricing about 2 years ago, then bought last year, and the price was exactly the same.

used both plate and handle, the plate was nice but for me unnecessary.  i could see where its useful for an older person.

i bought my 6" at a reeds sale for 140.  that was a promo deal they hasdn't been out long.   would of rather have gotten the 8" but i haven't caught a fish yet that didn't fit through the 6.

i was in the market for new power tools anyway and settled on the high end milwaukee fuel.   i switched from a old dewalt xrp 18v.   bougth the drill and driver set off ebay for 230.

I have been looking as well.  It's already been said the cheapest anyone can find the 8" is Cabelas for $250.  I see I missed a chance to save another $30 on a purchase that was between 200 -$299.   It expired on Oct 1.  I'll keep looking for those Cabelas postcards they send out usually offering something similar or even 10% off any purchase.  Couple that with free shipping offer, no sales tax in Iowa and some of the $82 gift cards and it is not a bad deal.

There is a Columbus day sale going on now, Save $20 on a $100+ purchase.

Just bought $250 8" K Drill from cabelas.  for $164

So here is how i got it.

With 10% off, Price is $225,  then I applied 2 $100 gift cards, (I bought them last week on Ebay for $82 each ($164)) and used $24.99 in reward bucks.  I travel for work so I accrue Rewards Bucks regularly.

So really I paid $189.99 but if i take away the rewards bucks, I paid $164      No tax,  Free shipping.

Not a bad 10 minutes of shopping.

That's a great deal if you can find the Cabela's cards that heavily discounted.  I typically only see them discounted around 5-12%.

DY- I received that as well today. I'm more interested in finding the gift cards at that kind of discount and then piling them on top of the next sale.  Seems like a pretty slick way to do it.

Yep, per their website, the 8" has a 7.5" cutting diameter. No idea why they did this, but it's one of the reasons I'm looking to upgrade my 6" to an 8".
