Spirit lake on the Kenai Peninsula is closed.
« on: Jan 14, 2019, 09:36 PM »
Talked to a buddy a couple days ago and found out the Salamantoff Natives Association is closing the public Access to Spirit lake.
This is the second most popular lake on the Kenai Peninsula for fishing.
ADF&G are no longer going to stock the lake and SNA is fine with that.
Their reasoning is all the trash left behind including alcohol bottles and used syringes, illegal summer campfires and camping,Tresspassing, theft of firewood from their private pavilion etc.etc.
I know I have confronted several groups over the years for illegal campfires and trash left behind.
All I ever got back was a snotty attitude.
I mean there's a huge frickin sign at the top of the hill(parking lot) saying no camping/camfires.
So sad to see people have ruined our access to a wonderful lake.
Thought you all might want to know before planning a trip there.

Thanks for the heads up. I usually take the kids back there a few times every winter. That’s a bummer, but there are plenty of other lakes on the Peninsula to check out.
