Late ice at the berry
« on: Mar 05, 2020, 09:37 AM »
Thought I better start a post for the late ice trips. Myself, skyler & Jeff are planning on going next week but haven't set a day yet. Then we'll be back up for the weekend of March 20-22. The temps have been dropping below zero every morning for quite a while now and it got to 2deg this morning

I'm 95% certain that I'm in this week.  Since I don't have the equipment to stay on the ice and the Lodge is a little pricey, I'll probably only come up for one day on the later trip.  Also, the ISE is that weekend, but I'll be there on the 19th.

Gotta love March at the Berry. Good thing skyler hooked us up with counters this year as I hit 49 fish by the time we left at 4pm and the fish were still biting

Matt, you're killing me.  But fortunately, this cold isn't.   ;D

You both topped my best day ever up there through the ice - 36.  Well done guys.

My symptoms are starting to subside, so I'm hoping I can join you on your next trip to the Berry.

I'm guessing you didn't ice an kokes.  Did you target them at all?  You didn't say, but I would guess you launched from the Strawberry Marina & Lodge ramp.

Good to hear your feeling better Bob, we didn't target any kokes but skyler was seeing them on his live scope about 70-80ft from where we were fishing. We did park at the marina. They appeared to be charging on the honor system which we did go pay before we left. So hopefully they're getting what they need to help with the plowing

Oh it isn't over yet. This weekend will definitely make the last camp trip but there may even be a day trip after that. If you still got some light rods out your more than welcome to join us for some bear lake cut action and who knows could even be some kokes show up. Should be a pretty good crew out there this weekend

Text sent glen, hope you still got the same number. We were planning on heading out at early dark 30 on Friday but the weather might push that back till about daylight. No need to be driving in a blizzard in there dark.

What a great way to wrap up the ice up the ice season. It snowed, blew and was straight up beautiful this weekend. Between the 3 of us we caught 238 fish. 5 were bows, one koke and the rest cuts. Nothing bigger than 20.25" Had quite the tent city going on to keep 3 pretty comfy. Mostly all those fish were caught at camp. Literally I didn't even get on more than slippers Saturday for walking around. He's a few pics but as usuall most are scenery shots cause not many of those fish were pic worthy
