Title: anyone fishing on wallenpaupack?
Post by: flyingfish123 on Feb 05, 2024, 01:18 PM
I will be staying on Wallenpaupack Thursday - Sunday.

Is anyone fishing Wallenpaupack recently or see anyone out on the lake?  I can see there is ice from webcams here https://www.poconomountains.com/plan-your-vacation/live-cameras/  , but not sure how much.

thanks!
Dan

FF123, I was there yesterday and the ice is crap. No one fishing and areas of open water. Especially Ledgedale and the Rte 507 side.  :(    FT

thank you Freytown!

I'll hope for open water where we are then to fish from shore.  doesn't look like its gonna get better with the forecast

Most of the lake was covered recently but it wasn’t close to being fishable. Only skim to 1-2” at most. This is a BIG lake that gets BIG wind and therefore needs a prolonged COLD snap to be fishable. I haven’t been on it in 3-4 years. We can have 10” of ice on nearby (smaller) lakes and there can be open water on The Pack!  :o

RuttNutt,

your report was spot on.  We found the shorelines to be weak and maybe 2" of bad ice tops beyond that.
