There is already a topic for this but it is 5 years old, and the link is not good any more. Does anybody know where to buy this stuff, it is the best that I have ever used and I have been looking for it since 1992. I saw that Scallop used it but I cannot seem to be able to send him a message. Thanks for any help.

I found some with google, but it's for your rod, not your lure.
I'm a man, but I can change, If I have to, I guess.

Synker I believe you need one more post before you can use the personal message feature. A company called Your Bobbers Down sells an attractant called Concoction NO.9 which contains anise oil. You may also be able to find anise oil among the baking products at a supermarket. Welcome to Ice Shanty be careful this website is addicting. I have not used this product.

Thanks guys and others  I have found some stuff with anise in it from Pro-Cure but I don't think that the anise is the only secret. I went on a three day trip with a friend in northern WI and had to hear about how men up nort' don't use fish attractants. After outfishing him 10 to 0 in about 2 hours he said let me try that and if I catch something I'll eat a minnow, within 3 minutes had a Muskie on. He lost the muskie but ate the minnow anyhow. This was great stuff.

I do not mean to hijack this thread or take it off topic. But know everyone enjoys a good laugh a season or two ago the topic of anise oil came up one member posted of being at his local supermarket or pharmacy and asking an employee where he could find anise oil. After the employee left an old lady approached him and whispered I think the hemorrhoid creams are found in aisle five.  ::) :roflmao:

I don't want to sound negative... I do agree that scents can make a difference on slow days, but why do people keep looking for the magic lure, instead of things like keeping your hands clean , downsizing or changing presentations, etc. I see it every year on our local forum. One guy gets on a good pod of fish and has a great day, next thing you know, the crankbait he was using is sold out!

You make some good points Greenbackhunter it is probably better to learn the general characteristics of the different fish species and get to know the bodies of water each of us mainly fish. Also a good idea to get familiar with a certain number of jigs /lures instead of constantly looking for the next hot lure. I think we fishermen are more ready to bite on a new item that looks promising or purchase a particular lure in a certain size and color because we have seen or heard it is catching a lot of fish. Then the fish are at times.

I hope the pro-cure anise oil produces fish the majority of time for that price.

I use a natural smelt oil on my lures when jigging lakers. There are times when i see fish activity as soon as i drop it in my hole in 80 feet of water and those fish scream up after so i am a believer.

It does make my ice gear a wee tad stinky though  :o
Goin' where the wind don't blow so strange,

Anise oil and the like. May give you an edge when fishing. If nothing else it will cover up the beer, cigarette, and sandwich scents on your lure you just touched.  ::)
Flags up! Bobbers down!
