Choose Your Own Adventure 2: Small Perch Jigs
« on: Jan 19, 2006, 08:46 AM »
So this is for all you poor guys who must have tiny perch in their lakes because they wanted to see some smaller jih choices... ;D

So Round 2 is for you.....Here are 5 small jigs in my arsenal...Which ones would you tie one when PERCH fishing

The always famous Genz Worm...with or without the tail

A wolfram Clown jig..nice and heavy for getting down fast

I have seem some posts on these guys recently..this one is by K&E tackle

One of my many marmish jigs..new to my collection this year..called the Giant Ant

Last But not least a Fiska jig (slightly smaller then the genz worm)

Ok, so there are your choices....what would you use?

The wolfram clown jig. When the fish are neutral or negative, and not going for the a spoon, I go for the fastest sinking jig possible...perch usually school up, and getting back down there as soon as possible is critical to catching numbers of fish...especially when they are in packs of 3 to 5.  You didn't select a size, IJ, so I am going to go with 5 or 6 mm for neutral fish, and 3mm for negative fish.

I think that is a 5mm or 6mm wolfram...The pics are all the same siz e and have been cropped using the same measurments so when comparing jigs you call tell the Ant is the smallest and Genz worm is the largest

K&e Bladed jig, like um, all have appeal and fish catching potential. The genz worms spin on you guys?? Like more vertical jigs for this reason.

I would try them in this order : Marmish Ant, Arnold Fairy Jig, Clown Jig, Genz Worm and Fiska. These are just my preferences and everyone will have their own .  ;D

I would have to pick the Genz Worm . That is the only one I carry currently from the list this time . I guess I need to check out more tackle .

finesse perchin use the bling bling lures. for us regular poor guys a plain leadhead jig tipped with your choice of bait or a #6 aberdeen on a dropshot rig. paying a dollar and up for the '' bling bling jigs'' i think is crazy. and no using these choices will NOT make the average fisher a better fisher.
