Title: Crappy (not crappie) weather
Post by: mowbizz on Feb 15, 2019, 06:16 PM
Anyone else sick and tired of this weather? Epic winds, one nuisance storm after another...rain, ice, fog... Seems I’ve been spending half my waking hours pushing, scraping, sanding, salting...can we please have a stretch of clear, cold weather Mr/Ms weather person????

Yup,
I'm cool with snow or a little rain but with wind really sucks the fun out of it.

Unfortunately, inconsistent weather is now the new norm.  Can't control it - just have to adapt and adjust, but I do miss the days of fishing well into April in a T-shirt and picking through three plus feet of ice.

The sun feels great but the gusts are getting ridiculous out here... at least I got the place to my self...

Still beats hurricanes and tornadoes.

Fair enough, that's what I say to my pops in Florida when he asks how much snow we got up here... but it don't beat 33 degrees no wind and a little light snow while the pressure drops... One weekend of that is all I ask.

We've had some pretty nice days I've thought, I've fished every week since the week after thanksgiving, there been wind and cold,  but I never felt like I suffered greatly,,  I think last weekend was last straw for most, I took today and tomorrow off to regroup a little, I'll fish Monday, I like the looks of the forecast.....I predict a "white out" and not from the snow.

I hear ya...I was mainly complaining about the “chores” the ice and snow bring...I don’t suffer while fishing but the chores beat me up so I dont feel like going fishing...a catch 22.

Wel all need to vent, I work maintenance for a living, I spent last Thursday up on a flat roof in 6"  of water and slush shoveling drains, every day it's something weather related. ..like I said... we ALL need to vent.

To weigh in here... this season has had some of the best conditions I've seen in a while...tons of ice (I'm on winnisquam) not a lot of snow so we can be super mobile .  Wind..yup   that sucks and it's a huge nuisance...but would u rather sketchy ice or 4 ft of snow to deal with?  But def agree...I'd rather 0 temp and no wind vs 40 degrees and blowing 40.....

;D   I'm having a great ice fishing year.   Today is perfect with sun and calm.   I get to choose my days so rain, heavy snow and howling wind find me in the reading in the sun room.  But if its just windy I plan ahead and go to a lee shore that will be in the sun morning or afternoon.  I do look  forward to March sun and temps above freezing.
No complaints here.  Hey,  its winter and we have lots of ice and no snow ;D

Careful now, Frank. You're starting to sound a little like John Lennon?
Hope you had good luck today, Bill. And, you too Wayne if you head out tonight. Sounds like good conditions for night time crappie hunting.

Today was one of the best weather days I have ever fished on Winni.  Caught some nice fish and just a great day all around.  Why couldn't we have this weather for the derby.  Didn't see many people out there.
