Jiffy customer service?

My hose on a generation 2 fuel hose is leaking at both crimp fittings. Jiffy wants $45 and shipping on their web page. That seems like a high price to pay for a design flaw that is potentially VERY dangerous. Google searches have lead me to think C.S. is very lacking. I am thinking of just rebuilding it myself with a better design. Any ideas? How have those of you that called Jiffy been treated? I live in the sticks, so a service center is not an option.

I've called them with questions a couple times, never had any issues.

I have only needed Jiffy customer service one time and had great service from them. They actually repaired my auger at their expense and it was four years out of warranty. Can't speak highly enough of their CS. It may help to mention the leaky hose is a safety issue if you haven't already.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.
