My 9-year old son is now into ice fishing. I'm really excited but the problem is that I have only one flasher. Would drilling a hole between us and dropping the transducer down it an option? Has anyone ever dealt with this before?

i use a triangle pattern for multi jigs. top hole is for the ducer
maybe 2' apart x 3 holes
put the sonar up on a bucket and move it over the top hole

Keep your holes close together. I'd but a cheap second flasher.

when jigging in my one man I drill three holes and put the wexlar in the middle, and jig one jig high and the other low and I can see them both.

Depends on how shallow you're fishing. Holes will have to be pretty darn close to see 2 jigs in less than 10 ft water. Deeper the water, the wider the cone. At what depth would you be able to see both jigs?

Chumpster is right, I'd say 12' or better to pick up 2 jigs and our holes where fairly close. We usially fish 4 holes across and a 5th above 3-4 for the Marcum. I then can pickup on two jigs. The two other holes then for soaking minnows.

In 12+ feet of water with the flasher in the middle you should be able to see both jigs no problem with the two outside fishing holes around 3'-4' on center. My opinion invest in a camera for your son, wicked cool and will keep him interested longer!
