Thin ice where the water is flows back from the fisheries.  The water in the fisheries is probably always being circulated with lake water.. Just stay on beaten path away from the shore where the pipe comes into lake..

cool how deep were u fishing for eyes? Useing t-tots and eyes for bait? Buckshots i find work good.

around 15-20ft. T-tots and any other type of jig worked best with minnows and eyes

That is true on the mealworms.Do to problems in the states there are no mealworns available. I am told they hope to be able to supply canada but mid to late Jan but no promises on that either. What you have been seeing out there is called a superworm. Look similar to a mealie but must be kept warm as they are a different breed and dont like a cold climate. If you buy these...DO NOT FRIDGE your tub or they will die quickly. Keep them at room temp is fine. They work good but just not as tough as a mealworm as far as climate is concerned.

from melville take the highway that takes you to regina when you start coming down the hill you will see a lake to your left ... thats mission if you wiggle through the town of ft quepelle you will hit echo now on the far east is katepwa and the farthest west lake is pasqua  you can start from ketepwa lake on the north side and drive all the way along all 4 lakes
as for driveing on the south sides im not sure about ketepwa or mission echo you can drive along south side ....(hatchery) (basayta) and pasqua there is no road on south side

http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=ft+quepelle&sll=49.891235,-97.15369&sspn=35.856218,92.8125&ie=UTF8&ll=50.77555,-103.788528&spn=0.273551,0.725098&t=h&z=11

this should help if you see the 210 highway it devides pasqua and echo apart
ft quepelle is between echo ans mission

and lebret is between mission and ketepwa

i have been out 2 full days a couple times evening and last sat for 2 hours

I think that's wild!  For those elsewhere it's been cold as part of a witch here.  The weather is definitely keeping me off the highway and off the streets except for work and walking to the pub and back.  I'm thinking thursday maybe, but no way am I going out in a blizzard.  When I lived at the lake it was great because I could say, "Ok, we'll walk out there and that'll take about 15 or 20 minutes, then we'll drill a couple of holes which will take us about 10 minutes, then we'll catch a couple of burbot for supper, (another 15 minutes) and walk back.  We'll only be outside for an hour and we'll dress for it."  Even if it's -25C or so but it's going up to -12 that's warm enough to stand out there, but a guy has to have some sort of limit.  The times I ignored mine I froze my fingers.

For those of you looking to get your hands on some mealworms, you can try Petland in Regina.  I get mealworms and superworms(giant mealworms) there for my bearded dragon all the time...I think they will even do a bulk order if you want.  Shipments usually come in every Wednesday around 2 pm.
Hoe this helps!

Yeah, a little expensive, especially for bait...I think I pay around 5 bucks for a pack of superworms.
Sorry, I must have missed the previous post...my bad.
Hope you all have a great season!

any recent reports from echo or pasqua, im headin out in the morning for the first time this year :-[ worst ice season for me so far, usually im one of the very first out on the lake if not the first. i havent wet a line for 4 months and really need to get back out. so any reports would be appriciated. i will most likely be at the fishery on echo or the west end of echo by the creek channel. will report back tomorrow night.
