Thank you. Please let us know when it's safe.
When I'm done drillin' - all that's left is an 8 inch wide, moist, dark hole that smells fishy......

Just heard from a friend that somebody is out at Regina Beach breaking up and removing some of the ice from the heave. Hopefully we can get some more cold temps to help freeze that back up.

Out to Collingwood yesterday. Made a mistake walking out at the Bible Camp. Very rough with the build up of chunks of ice near the east shore. Okay once out further, the ice is at least 18 inches thick everywhere I drilled. Blessed with two Walleye and Pike just mouthing the bait. Nothing aggressive at all. Surprisingly so with that Pike as well. There were about 5 vehicles just north of Collingwood that I assume drove on from there. One vehicle drove down from Collingwood to south of us. Ice is not as smooth as last year and there are some ice ridges once again. Next time out, I'm driving. Take care and remember to put the big ones back and reel all of them up slow from deep water, especially if you know they're small to help avoiding blowing their bladders!

What is the deepest any of you seem to catch at?  I have been wondering about trying to find deeper places to try.

I have fished Long Lake for 50 years and the most consistent depth that I catch at is 35 feet..(approx)

I have caught many eyes upwards of 10 lbs.

But that is now as the winter goes on things will change

Did my first ice fishing this season on Last Mountain. We tried a few spots High House area and with all the heaves and ice pushed up on shore we finally found a access at the Arlington beach area. after zig zagging a bit were  able to cross a small heave and work out to about 17 feet of water. I stayed there and a couple others went closer to the west side. There is a huge heave forming East and West so  you cant go south from there unless you find another access point. Of the 4 of us I was the only one catching and it was slow. 6 perch an 8 lb pike and a couple of tullibee. The perch were all caught in a 5 minute span. I measured the ice a few times with a max of 23 inches and a min of 16.5 inches. The guys that went West into 27 ft or so had 15 inches of ice.  pics of tomorrows breakfast.

I personally haven't been to Regina Beach since last weekend. But i heard they cleaned up the heave there a little bit, and i also heard somebody's truck went through by the pier shortly after. I was on the other side of the lake by sask beach last weekend and there was a good 24" of good solid ice. Will be driving out there again tomorrow. Can anybody confirm what the conditions are like by the pier currently? Also, does anybody know if they are having a fire by the pier for new years again this year?

Thinking of heading out to sask beach tomorrow. Anyone know how the fishing is or where to head too? I have never fished that area before. Thanks!

Access at Arlington is ok. You have to drive almost to the boat launch then turn west and drive on the lake There was some rough looking ice but we measured from 23 max to 17 inches. Look out for heaves there is a large one running East to west south of Arlington and more may have formed since we were out. If you go closer to the west side you may be able to cross the heave. Fishing was slow but I didn't explore a whole lot. I set up closer to the east side.

Been out the past few days at Regina Beach. Heave has been cleaned up and ice has been consistently 19".  Lots of trucks and shacks on ice.

A big heave from Alice Beach across the lake, lots of people were out the last few days towards 2 tree point.....no burbot so far. There's at least 14" out there.

Fairly slow day at Collingwood today. Had enough for supper but that was it. Roughrider Snow bear must have thought we were hammering though. Stopped within 20' of the holes we had drilled and set up for awhile. I can understand 30 or 40 yards but 20 feet?!?!

Way to go anglerbrian, that's a good day of pike fishing, with some dandy sized fish. :)

How thick is the ice there?

Hey WW I didn't take a measurement but would estimate 20 or more inches. This is the shallow end of the lake and not much for heaves that I saw just a few small cracks here and there.

I was at Collingwood today with 2 friends who were first timers for ice fishing. Not much biting today unfortunately, but we still all had fun. The ice is a good 18 to 20 inches everywhere we drilled. I think we will have a couple more ice fishers now, even though they mostly stayed in the warm shack they were grateful for the experience and can't wait to get out again.
