Well it's that time of year when the Master is starting to get the itch to hit the hardwater. Checked some of the smaller water bodies around home and it won't be long.
Was thinking that in a week or so I might have to take the mother in law down to the mountain, probably Collingwood region, to test the ice there. Really seems like a win win situation for myself and all other anglers in the area. If the ice passes the test, we'll drill holes with confidence. If it doesn't, well, there will be plenty of open water to cast into.
Looking forward to another great ice fishing season and the opportunity to share my knowledge with everyone. Tight lines everyone. This is WIM signing out.

So if your mother in law is like mine, it should be safe to drive on if she doesn't fall through.....

  ;D
When I'm done drillin' - all that's left is an 8 inch wide, moist, dark hole that smells fishy......

I took a drive down to Regina Beach this afternoon. The lake was frozen to the East of the pier. Everything to the West towards Pelican Point was open water. I'm sure that will change quickly this week.

Any ice further up the lake by Collingwood or Sarnia?  Hopefully the lake locks up this week!

It was posted on another thread that there was 3.5 inches at the regional North End. Should be over 5 now with the cold weather moving in. I haven't decided yet weather to try at the regional or head to a small perch pond further North.

I haven't decided where I am going to fish this weekend, but I have decided that I WILL fish this weekend. Hoping to get some more ice reports on this threat so we can all have an idea of where on the lake might be safe to fish. I know there are lots of anglers out there chomping at the bit to get on the hard water. I know i am!

Has anybody spudded their way out on the ice by regina beach in the past day or two? Will it be walkable for this weekend?

That was in front of the houses at Collingwood today. 2 days ago that was open water. I would not be going out for another week on a snowmobile or quad. I am unsure of the thickness but it can't be too thick yet.

floating is one thing, climbing back up on the ice is a whole other story.  not to mention a submerged engine.

Was out at Regina beach this afternoon for a few hours. Fishing was slow, but the ice was 13.5" where we set the shack up. Couple of guys were brave enough to cross the heave in their trucks. I'm still gonna wait for another week or so. I don't mind walking out for a bit until I'm positive the ice is safe. Crossing heaves always makes me a little nervous.

fair amount of truck driving on today.  a couple went all the way across the lake from the pier at regina beach. Fishing was much better today. Ice was 15" where we set up camp. Came home with a good feed of jumbo perch. Caught and released a few snakes and a couple eyes as well.

The fella that's driving that rig monitors the ice from his
Front door he knows this part of the lake like the
Back of his hand and has been ice fishing this part of the
Lake longer than some of us have been alive yea he's
A bit of a risk taker but his knowledge of the lake is no
Joke he eats sleeps and ice fishes I mean what else is
There to do when your retired and not to mention is
First to lend a hand when someone's in trouble

Has anyone been out at Alice beach? Are there shacks out there and are people driving out there safely?
