Is there a menu or listing of the lakes that can be previewed before buying the app?
Are Blackstrap, Brightwater, and Diefenbaker available?

I can't speak to Blackstrap or Brightwater but the map for dief is very inaccurate, as far as depths are concerned....  Although, it will give you an idea of where the points and sunken islands are.

It has Dief, Broderick, Brigthtwater, Blackstrap, Bradwell, Zelma,...LML... Do not buy the HD version. There is no HD depth map for our province.

If you don't want to buy the app you can just download the pdf map from the environment website and save it on your phone (if you have a smartphone).  It doesn't show you your location like the app would but it's pretty easy to find out where you are by comparing the map on your phone and the pdf map.

That way you can use this option for any lake that has a pdf map on the website.

If you drive around the road on the south end past the maintenance yard there is a spot to park if there isn't to much snow, i wouldn't park on the road since that does connect to a road up on top ad if its bare its being used.   Its pretty shallow in there so you would have to walk a long ways. You might as well park on the west side go out 30 feet and your in 20+ feet of water.   From the maintenance yard walk towards the north end of the rocks on the other side it will get deep . The Navionics chip is about 30-40 feet off

A buddy and I drove out on the North end yesterday. Didn't see anything on the camera, but did have something hooked. There is at least 14" of solid ice.

Fishing is zen.

Thanks for the info on the south end of the lake. I drive a car so I wouldn't drive down on the ice anyways. It looks like there is a road past the camp too that heads down to the lake and then follows it around and connects with highway 11 by the dam there. Even if its not open I wouldn't mind hiking down it with my sleigh, maybe wait for a bit warmer weather though, otherwise its a 3 km hike on the ice from the boat launch where I managed to catch 7 walleye (small guys) the other night in that area though, and I think there are some interesting looking spots based on the bathymetric map down that way. Kind of seems like there is a deep hole out in the middle right before it begins to shallow to the south and towards the dam. based on the luck I've had there last year it seems the walleye are in the deepest water and I caught a 27 inch walleye in a similar structure north of the causeway last year. Does anyone know if there is much water flowing through there in the winter??

There must be some movement of water through the causeway, seems to freeze last. Ice will be thinner in that immediate area. Be cautious

The causeway water movement is created by wind funneling  and going under the causeway.

it still doesn't freeze properly around he causeway. I have been sledding in the middle of February and seen open water by the causeway where you can go under the road.

Thanks YC & mjs059, for answering my question about the sunken road / Evans Road. :)

I would think that would be an OK spot to ice fish, if one set up on the sunken road it's self and in each side of the road, in the ditch.

Anybody been out in front of the boat luanch at the park.
Are you driving on yet? Was hoping to drive on next weekend with the shack if it is good to go. Just curious about this and will drill a few holes to see but dont really want to load up the shack unless it is close to ready. Thanks in advance.

Produces action in both winter and summer.
No shortage of shacks along its length in the winter,
Seems to produce a bit better early and late day in my experience as the fish move in to feed and then back to the deeper areas for the day,

Well, I ended up being sick on Monday ;), so Thing 1 and myself went out to the north end after lunch and tried our luck. Saw a couple small perch go for a swim past our hooks and what looked like a white fish hovering around about 3 feet above our hooks but other then that not much action in the 2 hours we were out there. The boy had a blast though. Fell asleep in the back seat of the truck on the way home, but when he woke up all he could talk about was when we were going to go back out ice fishing again. ;D

At least 14 inches in all the holes we drilled on the north end by the way.

A buddy of mine put his shack out on the weekend and said that a few people had driven on to the very north end (he towed his shack out with his sled).  He said that there was about 14-15 inches in the holes he drilled, but by the way he eyeballs fish I now know how he convinced his wife what six inches is.

Yes, Monday I did. Saw a couple 3/4 tons hauling shacks towards the townsite. There is at least 14 inches of clear black ice according to my tape measure.

Drove out on the north end today, drilled a few holes which were all about 16 inches. Didn't get any bites but gonna try again soon. Easy to get on the ice, about 4 shacks out so far.

What's your favorite bait and setup for chasing the perch on Blackstrap. Had good luck 2 years ago then nothing last year the one time I made it up.  Thinkin we will head out this weekend and wondering the best ways to increase our odds.  Being a pike hunter it doesn't transfer well to perch

Went out yesterday to the South end, 17 inches of black ice in most areas, not much snow, a few snow drifts forming but you can drive anywhere.  Fishing was slow, jacks not interested in lures, walleyes somewhat and no perch to be seen.

Someone put his truck through the the ice today.  Tried crossing the heave on shore at north end, 4 inches.
