Thanks for the info ShawnR. :)
Yeah, I thought that Lewis Creek might be a bit dry this time of year.
Always neat to check out new spots and on LML, there can be quite a few new spots to check. ;)

Speaking of new spots, do any of you ice fish at Big Arm Bay? ???
If so, do you fish off the 2 main beaches, go further back into the small bay by bridge, or even further back into the big bay it's self.
I would guess most of the lake species should be found in that area. :-\

WW

Have fished that area too.  Early in the year you'll see lots of shacks right where you drive on there in the bay.  I have not witnessed anyone fishing too far back in the bay. I have no idea what there is for depth back there.  Most shacks end up on the main lake straight out from the bay in about 30 feet of water.  Again seems like mostly pike and perch in these areas with a few burbot.

Bananas are much more effective in the winter,  their fish attracting capabilities are greatly magnified in the cold.  See below

First time out to LML this season will be tomorrow. Anyone willing to give a pointer on where fish have been biting on the south end of the lake?

Guess you don't need to live at the lake anymore!

All I can say is wow! The old man and I went to LML to try our luck. It was a slow start but, by 1030am until 2pm we landed 14 pike and 9 eyes. We marked them all in 8ft of water. The biggest eye around 5lbs and pike 4lbs. We kept a few pike and 3 eyes for a tasty meal. Had a great day with my dad, good time well spent. :)

Sounds like a good day on the lake. How thick was the ice?

It was only around 12inch mark if that. We were south of lewis creek kinda in a bay. It was a long walk but I wouldn't take my truck on. She was cracking and popping pretty good today.

Im sorry Clayton there is only 2 more double digits left in the lake. And im gonna catch one of them on Saturday. I heard Blackstrap is producing doubles maybe u should try there for a month. And note to all other anglers what ever you do not use pk's this year they are not working at all. You can still buy them because they do look pretty cool, but are to be left in the tackle box because mainly they cause birth defects in the state of California.

Hey Spoon,
I've never fished LML before, where should I go to get those 2 double digit eyes, and if PK's don't work, what should I use to catch them so you can't.

Well i would start at Valport and work the Lumsden Beach area till i got right in the thick of Regina Beach ice town then double back until i find some fish then i usually go to the biggest cow bell of a ruby red i can find in the ole tackle box rustier the hook the better and i usually bait it with canned corn not no name tho they prefer green giant. I hope that was some help for u. one thing i may add the ice is only 1.5 inches thick past Glen Harbour so u may want to wait til at least mid February.

Went to Regina Beach main beach area today and was far from being as good as the summer walleye fishing. Was in about 15 feet of water and caught 2 slough sharks just over a foot long. Spent around 7 hours out there today and only caught greasers, that was a kick to the nuts. Measured the ice with a tape, I had 16" at my holes and people were driving all around the area.

Anyone know if guys have been driving out on the north end yet?  I was out at Hendersons Sunday and ice was around 10-12.  I was thinking by this weekend guys will be driving on.  Any info would be great.

Thanks

Seen a huge ice heave just east of Glen Harbour straight out from the point. Be careful driving out there!

I wouldn't be driving over ANY heaves with a truck at this point... Or long travels... Drilled several holes today that were 6"  Someone will put a truck in this weekend just hope no one dies....

That's exactly what the boys at northern and I were just talking about. This is typically the weekend somebody puts a truck through, ice thickness varies way too much this year and it's going to cost someone. Stay safe out there fellers.

I walked out because of seeing that heave and ice thickness was around a foot in glen harbour bay. I was at least 500 meters from the heave and it looked like it was 3 feet tall and ran for a long ways.

Fished 10:30-4:30 at henderson beach area today,  very slow action. There were tons of fish on the flashers when we first got out, in the first half hour we had 4 flags, a snapped line and a hook  bent straight. Then dead. After noon caught nothing but ciscoes everywhere we went. Ended up catching 3 jumbo perch, 2 small pike and a bunch of cisco/tulibee. Fished everything from 12-32 ft. Ice was solid everywhere, 14" north of the point and 16-17" on main lake in 30fow.
