I don't want to see to much snow on top either or it takes twice as long to gain thickness . I wonder if the lakes up north were frozen before they got all that snow? Or if it just fell in open water.

the big lakes were still open but some of the small lakes might be a mess.  nothing a couple nights of -20c won't fix.

Went out to lml today. Regina beach still wide open. Ice has started forming in kinookimaw walked out a little ways but it was cracking hard with every step. Be a while yet on lml with the way the forcast looks.

Neat, I have always wonder what open water fishing was like there this late in the year. @)
Was there any ice on the lake is it still all ice free?

Where the bass biting good, or was it mostly pike and walleye?
Just curious.

I bet a person wanted they could shore fish all winter at the N end.
I may be a a bit tough though to reel in the frozen lines through the frozen rod guides, lol. ::)
I have experienced that before. :P

Just today finally for about 45 mins, iced a walleye and marked a couple fish.

Still weeks away from doing any real fishing.

Neat, way to go Layne. :)
That little walleye is still better than a skunk and a good way to scratch the ice fishing itch. ;D

How deep is that little river / creek?
Would you catch them all year in there or does it freeze to the bottom eventually?
Do you get other species in there too?
How thick was the ice on that body of water?

Keep at them.

What's the ice situation out on buffalo around loneys? And the north side of it? A good 4-5" of walkable ice yet?
The ice angler is a different breed of fisherman. Undeterred by distance, daylight or degrees, these warriors go to extreme measures to chase down the fish attempting to wait out winter below the frozen surface. Through 10-inch holes positioned amidst miles of ice they engage the elusive walleye one-by-one, yeah it's crazy, and some may never understand it.
