Last Mountain Lake 2012-2013
« on: Oct 29, 2012, 09:57 AM »
The freeze has begun, this is a picture of Big Arm from Saturday. We drove by little arm as well and the tail end of it was locked up, the rest of the bays are still open.

I poured my deck piles yesterday and now I'm not worried about a big freeze any more hell i want it to freeze up soon lol. My goal this year is to make a few last mountain trips hunting for some big walleye and a few nice 2lb keepers.

We'll go check big arm this weekend and take a pic, it wont take long for the lake to lock up after the cold weather on the way. I still think we'll be on the ice in November.

Darn, I knew I should of taken a pic... doesn't matter, there is no ice to speak of on the south end.  There was a tiny bit by the shore at Valeport and the rest of the lake was wide open this morning.  It will likely take weeks to freeze up.

Weather says -7 high to low of -20 ish for the next 14 days, plus with this cold snow and rain the lake temperature is going to be going way down. Also doesn't look like it's warming up any time soon. So 2nd week in December is a safe bet I'd say for all the lakes in the Regina area. But I hope last week in November/first week of December

LML as of yesterday, photo by eyecatcher00

Grandview area is still open but it sounds like most of the north and south ends of the lake are frozen.

I was told today that there is about 5" of ice at Pelican Point but there is still open water about a mile north of Sorensen's Beach.

Its open from Sorensens all the way up to Rowans pretty much. This wind and warm weather is not helping our cause at all.

Hopefully going out to Pelican Pointe this Sunday.  If I do I will try to post when I get there.  My fingers and toes are crossed hoping there is enough ice.  I've got the fishing itch bad now.

Have you or has anyone else had luck at Pelican during first ice for walleyes?

damn that was something I didn't want to hear. did any other areas stay frozen or was a good portion of the west side broken up. I'm coming from saskatoon so I don't want to drive down only to head back home.

Nice fish.  Congrats!  Which beach were you near where you caught that?  I'm still curious if anyone knows the thickness of Pelican Pointe.  I never made it out there last weekend.  Unfortunately I don't drive so I depend on the wife or someone else to take me. I go by their schedule and if they don't want to go, I can't either.  LOL.  I'm lucky to have a wife that LOVES fishing so hopefully soon our schedules will match up and we can get out there.

Thanks for the reply.  I knew it would be inconsistent all over the place.  Just looking for some confirmation that people are out fishing.  It's been pretty cold the past week so things should be freezing out there.
