Fishing is really SLOW!  I got one nice eye about two weeks ago, but nothing since then.  We have spots that usually produced good pike and eyes in previous years but nothing this year...it has been a weird start to the season.

Thanks for the info Pants - always nice to post on here and get an answer rather than driving 40 km.  Cheers!

Was at Collingwood today north of and away from all the shacks. 17 inches of ice over 25 ft of water.
Slow going until 4:30 (4 nice perch) then the walleye started biting nonstop. Caught one Walleye with tumors all over it. Kinda gross
I have never caught one like that at Long lake before.  I did catch one at Lake of The Prairies a few years back that was covered in tumors.
Not sure what causes it. (Skin Cancer?)
Anyway  Walleye fishing is super if you can wait until dark..
Old fishermen never die, they just smell that way.

I caught a 13 inch Perch at Lake of the Prairies 1 side all covered in sores. If I had caught it in Sask I think I would have taken it to a CO

I think..but not sure...that the sores on the outside of the walleye are nothing more than a parasite that will not hurt the eating of the fish at all. I was fishing with a fish biologist last spring at Dief. We caught one like that and he stated that they were just a parasite. Double check to be sure though.

And how's the snow on the lake?  It was sure nice to drive right out in the van last week.

Haven't been out to Glen Harbour yet.  I usually focus on the Pelican Pointe area.  I'm going out this weekend so maybe I will swing up there and check it out.

Have any of you tried Fox Point, and the really deep water around it?

Can that area be accessed by vehicles or is it quad or snowmachine access only? ???

You could probably drive a truck there down the shoreline rite now. Havent ice fished foxes point but ive done ok there in the summer, could be worth a shot.

as far as getting around on the lake goes, its getting fairly thick in spots with some pretty big drifts.  we have driven on a spring bay and driven on the ice however now that the snow is building up we r going out on the snowmobile.  havent done any fishing right on foxes, but we have been fishing a nice shelf just south of foxes, by the three cottages on the south side of the point.  the fishing there was really hot however it has died down now.  still marking alot on the sonar but the bite has quieted down significantly.  our shack is still out that way but we have found a new honey hole!!.  we did ok right on foxes last year, and always do well there in the summer.  you tend to get alot of burbot starting to move in on the sand points this time of year to spawn, so you may tag a few of them there as well.

Any reports on the fishing at Island View?  Is there easy access onto the lake?

We've been doing ok at Island view but nothing great. The ice road isn't plowed yet but the guy who plows it said it will get done soon. Big drifts are starting to be a problem.

We've been fishing 35 feet of water and getting decent perch and walleye.

Anyone hammering the walleye???!!!

We were at the Barn on Sat. & Sun., the fishing was slow but managed to get 8 on Sat. & 5 on Sun. Nothing big. Although there is a lot of shacks just north of Glen harbor, not many fish are being caught. We went and drilled a bunch of holes there on Sat & seen nothing on the flashers, so didn't stick around long.

I was at Glen Harbour yesterday and snow conditions are great but the ramp would be rough for a car.  I wish I knew about Collingwood too but I think it usually gets less than the Macpheat/Swanston's area and it was good for a truck.  Actually Collingwood has probably had so much traffic it'll look like the highway.

i live north of LML and was wondering if the pike fishing is good in the north end of the lake near the Regional Park? i've heard it can be good later on in march, is it worth fishing earlier? just wondering if anyone had any info. thanks.
