Anyone going up this weekend?  I'm heading up thurs after work for a three day weekend going to try and beat this upcoming cold snap.

I am going to be heading out to my cabin Saturday morning.  I plan on doing some insulation work Saturday evening and hopefully fishing for lakers Sunday.  If you happen to be in the area give me a call.  You still have my number right?

Yup still got your number, I won't be going to your lake until the trail gets groomed I don't really want to beat up my gear like Wes did.  Jkw will be heading up tomorrow I think he will be fishing somewhere around the north end of the lake.  Keep your eye out for a fatfish 6.  It was -22 when I got to the lodge tonight sitting at -13 right now so not bad.

Not much to report on, low pressure moved in and made catching a little tough.  I did notice that they got a bunch of snow yesterday and the groomer finally made it out today.  Hopefully the trails stay intact and not ruined by trucks and wheelers.

I came up empty handed fishing.  Pulled a lynx from one of my traps, but the fishing was slow for me.  I was marking fish and getting lots of nibbles, but no takers.

Did a little bit of fishing over the weekend.  Thought I'd share a few pics.  Nothing special, but did manage a few burbot and a laker.

Very nice, glad to see you were able to sneak away from chores long enough to get some fishing in.😀

Good looking fish. How deep of water do you guys find your Burbot and lakers up north?

I'm probably the wrong guy to ask because I'm definitely not an expert, but we were catching most of ours in about 5-10 feet of water.  But I did catch one burbot on a tube jig in about 40 feet of water on the bottom at night.

Definatly, I'm hoping to head up next weekend if I get fri off.  I have to take care of a little otter problem so I need to talk to the guy that traps that area to see if he is going to go after them or not.  Do you know trapper Paul, he works the tyone area?  Supper nice guy and the stories he can tell are unreal, he's in his 70s and still traps out there by himself.  I ran around a little with him last spring and helped him put in some muskrat sets.

No, I haven't heard of anyone named Paul who traps up that way.  But I do know a friend that traps otters pretty regularly up in that area.  If you want I can give him your phone number and have him call you.  I bought some 330s that I planned to use this year to trap some otters over by my place, but I haven't seen any sign yet this year.

Will be headed out there this Friday. Only got a few burbot in 2 days of fishing, no lakers. Hopefully the warmer weather and higher pressure will get the bite going.

I have a hot spot that always produces in the summer, but dead in the winter,  do you guys find the summer spots produce in the winter as well? Or should I bounce around a bit, I was thinking 25-30 foot of water is good, also did 100 foot last year and got the smallest lakers I have ever seen.

Spent three days on crosswinds. Feb 24 -26.   Caught 15 lakers between us three guys ! Biggest was around 32 inch.  We went all over the lake lots of overflow.  Found the fish most active very deep between 90-102 feet. Pretty slow fishing.  Weather was great !

Did 3 days on LL 24-26, only got 4 lakers, 4 burbs.  Amazing weather though.  Spotted a ton on the flasher, but not very interested, lots of bumps. Maybe the bite will pick up as we hit March/April.

Picked up as in picked up at the store?  Or you caught them?  I would love to hear how you managed to find some gold.

I have a coworker whose brother nets them in the Yukon. These things are the size of red salmon, and he gave me 3 lol. Enough bait for a year or so :)

I am excited to get out now and try it and see if its that big of difference.

Watch out for falling rock around long lake and the other usuall spots lots of rock in the road on my way home.  Also some moron in a truck got stuck out in front of Larson bay and tore the area up pretty good trying to get it out so be careful if your in that area the ruts looked real deep.  I'm starting to feel like a broken record here, please stay off the lake with wheeled vehicles.  For you greedy lurkers on here just keep in mind your making it extremely dangerous for other people who use the lake responsibly.  It's not worth getting people hurt just so you can go out and catch a fish, man up and walk out like the rest of us did when we first started fishing out there.

Just got back yesterday and the snow is goin fast.  It's still freezing really good at night but during the day the sun softens the snow including the hard packed trail.  I pulled my shack and got it put away in the morning while the snow was still hard.  It's real easy right now to tear the trails up so take it easy on the trails.  There was a couple side by sides on the east side of the lake on Saturday so I can only imagine  they tore the trail up when they went to leave so be careful if your on that side of the lake.  Bring your sunscreen and plenty of water cause it gets hot out in that sun.

The trail is still in and the ice is still in pretty good shape for now, it's gorgeous out there.

Was planning an arctic oven camping and fishing trip, but work messed up my weekend and we didn't have the time to get down. Next season.
