Perch/Panfish Mudder
« on: Dec 15, 2009, 11:17 AM »
Has anyone ever heard of using a mudder? You use a piece of heavy cord with a brick or something heavy tied to it that will fit down the hole you lower it to the bottom and pound the bottom of the lake to stir up the silt/and aquatic organisms and supposedly the fish come a running! Has anyone ever tried this? I guess it kinda makes sense, thoughts?

You don't need anything nearly as big or heavy as a brick ! lol
A small lead weight will work .

people also use large sucker minnows (10") with a weighted vest to stir it up

How about a 4 ounce bell shaped sinker for a duck decoy, reckon that would work?

How do you put a vest on a suckerfish? Now I feel like some leg pullin is going on!

Sometimes it will , it's a curiosity thing .
You only need to create a small dust could with a sounder or small weight not something large like a brick . lol

I tied a big sturgeon sinker onto a length of parachute cord and tried this today at CJ, no dice, only fished an hour and only drilled 3 holes, the ice is still good near the narrows, I'll try again saturday with the kids, its only 20 minutes from the base.
