Hey Guys! lets see those Big Boys!
here's my personal best!
I caught this 29" fish in Lake Champlain, during the 2007 season. She had a tag in her back! she was tagged in 1997, and she was 20" then.

Where were you on Champlain? North, south, central?
-
Those fish are from the islands. The 20 year old tasted pretty good!
-
i must say nice fish man! coleman, if you catch a tagged fish go ahead, don't dis him for eating a fish, sounds like something PETA would say
-
Here is one of mine. It was delicious.

Not my biggest as there was no camera when I pulled in my 6.7 pounder. At least I have 3 witnesses for it before I stuffed her back down the hole. I think this was around 5.5 not too fat. The biggest I have seen on this lake was a touch over 8. Breaking 6-6.5 pounds is a big deal on this relativly easy to access mid/high pressured lake.

I unfortunately do not have any pictures of my largest, but here is one from last year from my friend Ryan who is part of our Team on the Bay of Quinte.
32" long. My digital scale read 14 lbs, but I found out this summer that my scale is light and it would have probably came out to around 14.75 lbs.

That is an amazing fish, what do the eyes eat in there, small dogs. I see pics of the amazing walleye out of Quinte every winter, unfortunately a bit too far for me to go, but I would sure like to spend a few days on there one year.
-
MY what Beuatiful Eyes you have ::) .....Congrats;)2
-
I haven't seen them eat any dogs yet, but they eat lots of big shad.
They definitely like to be spoon fed through the ice...

Here is my 28" 10lb walleye I caught thru the ice on Saginaw Bay last winter.

the 29 inch fish are the ones you want to take out of the gene pool. A 29" walleye is comparable to a 60-70 year old woman, where as the 15-18" walleyes are comparable to a 25 year old. Which one would you rather have give birth? keep the biggins and the small ones. Let the slot fish go. they are the ones that will give us a better population.

ben you son of a b***h! its dominique, this is jon's username. did you make it back from nyc alive? nice walleyes, ive seen those pics before. i caught a perch today, haha. see you at school!

nice fish everyone but that mount looks like a dogfish/bowfin in ny terms

the eyes around Ct have some seriously screwed up coloring depending on the time of year and the body of water. There is a bright blue iridescence on ALL The fins which ive never seen before, once out of the water it disappears. When I drop off pics for the third mount, Im going to have them all repainted the same.

My two personal best are a 31" taken from a Canadian Shield lake back in June of 2002 and a 30.5" 'hog' (pre-spawn fatty; est'd about 14 lbs) just last Saturday through the ice on Lake Winnipeg (both in my home province of Manitoba). these are all really nicw walleyes guys, they make me drool. ::)
-
I really need to find and scan all of my pictures, my biggest to date is a 33 1/2" 13 lb 2 oz caught at Tobin Lake. Since our family had a cabin there for 6 years and I'd fished nearly every weekend during the summer season I have caught at least 50+ walleye over 9lbs and a dozen or so around 11+.
-
All of those are NICE fish!! Hope to hook one of those this season.
-
FYI they stock because the populations arnt self sustainable because the 10lb female filled with 250,000 eggs compared to the 2.5lb 16'' walleye with, oh about 50000-75000 are being taken out of the system. Not my tax dollars, and not my fault your fishing licence costs an arm and a leg. Its backwards thinking that the young ones are the better spawners... because they are absolutely not. Theres the whole new Conservation thing. Or the CPR -catch picture release.
-
my biggest i cought was off the damm at dunnet it was 30.5" 12.5 pounds

One of the guys friends who fishes down here on Lake Erie of a small island called Put-In-Bay caught this one. I cant post the pic but if you click the link below in the forum on posting 1 is all the pics. I know you guys can get into to some walleye up north but this is how we roll down here. This size is common through the ice. If interested follow our ice adventues here

The ice down this way is nothing to mess with and you should get a guide if you never done it down here before. Google Put in bay ice guides or south bass island ice guides. To give you an idea we run No 7 Swedish Pimples for our walleye! Come on down and try for an awesome wallhanger like that!

I love seeing pictures of large walleye but i'm extremely disappointed to see so many that i know weren't thrown back, those are the fish that stock the lakes we fish in. I have personally caught and released over 50 walleye that cleared the 28" mark and around a dozen over the 30" mark. I have pictures of them, and i toss them back. I have personally seen a top notch fishery that still produces fish like this every day get depleted so badly they had to introduce a slot limit, people were tossing back the eating size fish ranging from 1.5-3lbs in favor of keeping half a dozen over 6lbs on a daily basis. I can recall about 7 years ago my brother and i in one even catching 40 walleye over 4 lbs in 1.5 hrs, that will never happen again and its simply due to the negligence of todays fisherman.

Here's a nice hardwater eye. Any guesses on how much she weighed? She was released too.

Lot's of great trophy's in this thread. Here is a pic of my bud's post spawn female from 2010. She was released to keep her gene pool going. I can only imagine how fat she was before spawn.

Nice quality and Mature waldo. Atleast it is in my neck of the woods. Also great to see ya release a future spawner. They don't taste that good over 20" in my opinion anyways.

She was caught Valentine's day 2010, out with the girlfriend (who also caught her PB), we did use G2 guide service that day, but, Grant wasn't out.
Nice to see the release, nice fish CravingIce
Thanks, I have no interest in eating walleye bigger than 4-5 lbs. I'll take the smaller ones, or perch anyday.

You bet!!!!!! The pic doesn't show it too well, but, the girth on those big Quinte females is massive.

Lots of beauties on this thread. My biggest walleye was in the boat at 11.5lbs. Thru the ice 10 lbs. No pics tho. >:(
The only thing that is kinda bummin me out is I see a lot of trophy walleye on stringers, in garages, on cutting boards, etc. etc. I know its every anglers' perrogative if they wanna keep a trophy or realease it, but i would like to see every walleye over 4 lbs released.

Roughly 8 pounds (let her go) from a lake in northern wisconsin, its the dead sea in summer, but when the ice comes, everything we pull out is at least 4-5 pounds, with 8 pounders pretty regular, to top it off, last year jigging for gills in 8 fow, i seen a 10+ pound walleye swim under my hole, its small unknown lake surrounded by very big well known lakes, which has obviously helped out, just wish i could get them to bite in the summer! but ice fishing season is around the corner so i cant wait!!!! pic is from last season.

I would like to clear up some misconceptions about large walleye. Some of your comments are right. The females over 22 inches do produce more eggs than the 15" to 20" fish do. However what most of you apparently don't realize is once a fish gets to that 22" inch range the eggs they drop become less viable. So a fish that drops 250,000 eggs that are not going to reproduce is not worth throwing back in if your worried about the fishery. They eat large amounts of baitfish that should be saved for your breeding females. It is better to leave the 15" to 20" fish. They may only drop 25,000 eggs but they are all fertile. That is why keeping the larger walleye from a lake is better fish management than throwing her back in and keeping your limit of 16"-18" walleyes because they taste better.

Yeah we are pretty blessed with the Green Bay and Winnebago walleye fisheries right our the back yard. Average fish in DePere for us last spring was probably around 5-6 lbs with several in the 8-10+ lb class every night. Fishing at night and far away from the crowds pays off!

I will tell you Cousin Eddie that it sucks to be a small fish in that giant pond. Ft. Peck is about 132 miles long and over 20 miles wide at its widest point. There is mind blowing Perch in that lake along with Northern Pike, Lake Trout, Walleye, Sauger, Saugeye, Catfish, Small Mouth bass, Ling, Crappie and Salmon to name a few. One heck of a fishery. Fairly remote area of Eastern Montana in the very rugged Missouri Breaks country.
