2012/2013 Lake Louise Reports Thread
« on: Nov 14, 2012, 04:21 PM »
This just in:

8" new snow over a foot of ice. Still snowing.

Ice fog is bad this year. Have the tools and equipment to find your way around.I just got a Garmin Montana. Gonna see how it works.

Ice road is supposed to go in Saturday.

Just returned. Garmin Montana worked great to -20. 2011 Tundra 550F LT was AWESOME! Even though I tipped it over 2X hauling freight. It torqued so hard it went over. 1200# of freight up a 45 degree slope. No fishing for me. Looked for a bou and hauled freight for a friend.

Stay on the trail if pulling a load. Lots of overflow. Lots of pushups. Trail is in, but I think the peole doinging it were stoned. They didn't miss very much overflow. Susitna is the worst. Don't even think about getting off trail in front of Larsen Bay. Snow off lake is crappy. No place for water cooled machines. Highway is ROUGH in spots. 3 shacks at the channel.

Thanks to the makes of blue foam outhouse seats!  ;)

I don't know about grooming.

100 yards of snow that isn't stuck to the ice, the 40 yards of frozen overflow..... repeat...... don't be hauling (*&* when you hit the overflow!

I'll be up Wednesday PM..... stay at lodge..... run to cabin, fire up stoves, back to lodge.... DINNER!!! ..... back to cabin.

I need your expertise on a stove/cluster..... you have to see it to believe it......

3 shacks at the chanel are the group of guys I fish with. Mine is the smallest, yukon green. 5 ft of water where they are right now. Mine is in 13ft and it drops off quick from there. Speared my first whitefish. Tiny little guy but I will have to put in some more effort. Susitna overflow turned me around in my little shack as it was coming up over my tow bar and I was barely moving. I was on the trail!

Slush!! Cracks in the ice let water through and it soaks the snow on top. Bout a foot of it right now. Even at -20.

Thank you! That's what I was guessing but never heard the term before. We live in the land of slush because we rarely get more than 15" of ice, a foot of snow on top turns it to a soupy mess. You guys are so lucky, your mixed drinks have more ice than we get to fish on.

That's Pats new day shack.  I stayed in it 2 weakends ago for the night and had the little buddy heater on low at 20 below all night.  He got the insulation right now he just needs to fix that death trap of a door knob.  Hey Dirt get a hold of me when you get up there and maybe we can fish together.
