Went out to Hidden Lake this afternoon to check ice thickness (and brought the tip-ups along). Ice was 6" - 8" thick, so we set out some lines with herring. 20 minutes later, my wife was landing the first fish of the 2010 - 2011 season (for us). She pulled in a 24" Northern Pike - no monster but a keeper. Will be nice to have fresh fish for dinner tomorrow night. I caught another one about an hour later, but it was a little smaller. Great to be back out on the ice again!
