What's the smallest made ice auger? I just want one small enough to fit my underwater camera through. Don't want to add the weight of another full size auger. Maybe a 20 inch long bit for an old manual have drill.
-
Strikemaster made a Mora 4”.think they still make a 4” lazer .4” auger is so easy to drill a hole and its my go to auger if im fishing for perch only.

How small you want? Weld an extension onto a forstners bit.

There was a guy at the St. Paul ice show with 3" ice drills for sale. It was a yellow flighted deal. The clam people near the games were looking at them for scouting purposes.
The guy selling them name was Bob. I asked to look at the blades and his name was printed on them. It might have been Bob Ward?

Bob Ward is a sports shop in Montana.

Good Buy J Bird you will enjoy it

I had a 4" lazer for a week until a 9-10" gill wouldn't come though. Upgraded to a 5" Lazer and had that for 2 years until i wedged a 15" crappie back and forth to get it out. Im still waiting for a fish that cant fit through my 6".
I loved the small auger for the miss backwaters, its a riot to catch perch and panfish with and doesnt throw a huge light beam spooking the fish. But i also like to land big ones.
I can see why you want it for your camera though!

ThunderBay and iceberg Siberia , make 4”
The old perch guys around here used 4” moras

Years ago I made some DIY "Reel Weeds". I can use the small auger to set those in place also. I haven't used them in years but I'm going to give then a try again.

I love my 4" mora but wouldn't mind seeing this 3" people have mentioned,

The guy selling the 3" drills was Bob Horn from IL, he was/is a NAIFC angler.

Finally got some ice to try the Strikemaster synthetic 4 1/2” auger. Great for panfish and cuts like butter. My teenage son now likes to drill holes.
-
Edit: - I use a Strikemaster 10" lazer auger with a Milwaukee 2804 M18 Fuel drill.
Been looking for a small auger to use with my drill just to drop my Marcum camera down the hole to locate the spot-on-the spot structure, the camera head measurement is 4 1/2 inches from fin to fin. Wanted something simple, looked at a Forstner bit, they do make one that's 4 5/8" but you'll need to weld on a suitable extension, just too expensive.
Found this mini-auger on Flea-Bay, did the BIN, for $36.99 delivered, should have it by Feb. 10th. Plan to ditch the handle, a standard 22 mm auger/drill adapter will fit.
Another option for consideration.
Cheers
David

I have the 130 mm yellow auger. Very nice in my opinion. The folding Mech is very well designed.

That's what I have for my smallest drill option. You can even run it in high gear on the Milwaukee Fuel and throw some serious chips.
As a bonus, the fleet farm near me had the blades on closeout this season, $5 a set. Couldn't pass that up.
