Does anyone else use this setup?
« on: Dec 30, 2005, 04:03 AM »
I was talking to a couple locals yesterday and when they saw our indoor lines setup they couldn't believe how we did things.

Here's a couple pictures.

I thought everyone did it like this?  We certainly did not invent this setup.  Anyone else use it?

I dont use that set up but somthing similar....My buddy has a permenant shelter and he uses the same idea with th door stop and a piece of wood in it. he placed a small slit in the wood to hold the line (loose) but we dont use the bells and he mounted the rod holders on the wall so we can place the rod in the metal holder instead of using loose line...same idea differnt set-up

Hmmmmm,  i honestly thought this was a more common setup.

The bells are sweet.  You can be talking away to whoever's there or intently jigging one of the other holes then all the sudden DING DING DING it's on!  The springs are sensitive enough that a perch will ring the bell and any walleye or pike will ring the bell, pull off the loop and feed line out.

Not quite....but the spool on a nail overhead.....just when things get quiet....you get startled by the sound of the spool rattling on the nail.....cheap and effective....Grump

Nope never seen or heard of that before.  but I guess it is a cheap set up and serves its purpose.
All I need is ice and the fish will come.

That is alot like what we use up here. Except we use a rattler reel in place of the line spool you use. We use one in each corner of shack and they work great.  Steve

Yeah we used to use the rattle reels but found that at least once a week someone would lose the tension knob down the hole.

It wasn't the cheapness we were looking for.  Just like to keep everything out of the way.  Nothing worse then having to dodge jigging rods scattered everywhere.  Especially on those nights when there are lots of visitors.

Actually perch, walleye, northern pike.  My personal best walleye came off that exact hole on Dec 17th.  A 25.75" X 17.5" fatty.

All we do is set the hook and pull in the line hand over hand.

We have no pike or walleye over 10lbs.  At least not verified.  The locals always seem to catch 10+ pound bass and 20 pound pike though................ .. but that's a whole different story.
