I bounced outta there this week, onto another spot. Ice is great this season so we are taking advantage of that. Wanna hit the spots that we haven't been able to get to in the last few years.

Good luck on jigging up them lakers tomorrow, show us what ya got!

Go Go Get Em!

Don’t blame you one bit! I’ll be sure to post on any action (or lack thereof)

A good day today!
Lakers were on camera right away sometimes 3 at a time. Had my first on a jig right away but it got off at the hole.
3 firsts...Shobizz caught her first laker on a tip up. Around one o’clock she dropped her jig stick into the hole!
Laker pulled it right out of her hands!
She dove into the hole and grabbed it and pulled up her first jigged laker!
She beat me for catching a first laker on a jig! (A CH special pink n purple bucktail)
5 minutes later a laker slammed my chartreuse jig and I had another one on! This one didn’t get away!
Another laker on the tip up and we were limited out at 2 each (we eat ‘em)
A fun day for sure!
Brad the Redneckfisherman stopped by for a chat then set up close by. Both tip up lakers we caught were spitting up tiny smelt after being landed and we caught them with shiners.

ayyyy first one on the jig stick now your hooked! I set up near by in 60 foot of water and had a huge mark right away worked him with a white tube jig and got absolutely hammered about 10ft of bottom , I missed the hook set and didn't see him come back I moved backed to my morning hole and continued seeing lakers but no takers! Ended the day with one laker . On way back to rainbow I stopped to look in some bodies holes from earlier by the boat ramp and saw a massive smelt run going through!

I'm planning on coming over on Sunday.  Should I leave the wheeler home or will the ice still be thick enough with this rain. I'm fishing from Wellington state park

Anyone else gonna be out there on Saturday? I know weather stinks, but I'm limited to my days to fish so I'll be out there bouncing around north of Wellington. I'll be in the red Eskimo flip-over. Getting a walkie today as well.

I'll be out there Saturday morning. Hoping to setup north of Wellington for the weekend provided there is thick enough ice for my hardside.

Wellington boat ramp update:
12:33 pm there was about 3 inches of water on the ice in most places except high spots , and about 25-30 gallons per minute of water running right down the boat ramp , the edge has already soften up and off to the right of the ramp there is a small foot long patch of open water now , I would go easy on and off with wheelers tomorrow !

Doesn’t take long to deteriorate...everyone should use care in getting in and off at Wellington to not bung it all up. After the refreeze it should be fine.

After work I stopped by the boat launch at Wellington.
Right side of launch had some open spots but we’re not using that side.
No snow on the lake, all water and soon to be pure ice after the freeze. Absolutely need creepers. A huge ice skating rink.
Gonna be windy tomorrow by the looks of the weather report.
I plan to drill a few holes by my house to drain the water off the ice before I cut my house holes. Probably should of gone out tonight to do that instead of in the morning but I think it starts to get cold around 8 am or so. Maybe sleep in and fish late tomorrow.

FYI Fowler river is backed up w ice chunks. Looks like it could flood the road to Wellington.

Be safe out there everyone.

Mother Nature is sure throwing us a curve ball! More snow midweek and they say it could be a doozy!
