Blue Mesa Monday
« on: Jan 17, 2015, 12:45 PM »
Anyone else want to go this Monday? I will be going to the Dry Creek area this trip. Got room in my truck for someone else. I can either go over the Black Canyon or through Delta and Montrose on my way if someone wants to go. Let me know.

Brown-time you interested?

Dang. Lefty. Just went today off  Iola.  Tons of people.  3 of us got 18 browns, 6 bows and 6 lakers.  Great in the morning, then slow then steady all afternoon in 60 fow for lakers n browns.  Gotta haul stuff on Monday to North Delta for a consignment auction while my GS and SIL can help me.  Thanks for asking. Don't give up on me.

Wife changed her mind and is going this trip. I am bringing a secret weapon. I will keep it a secret if it fails.

Haven't been there yet. I would think thinner than Dry Creek.

Need everyone's advice. Going to make the trek to blue this coming weekend and fish it sat and sun. Where's the best place to start. Looking more for lakers but happy with any trout. Also I don't have a power auger or fish finder so moving around and drilling a ton of holes isn't much of an option for me. Any input would be great
Thanks in advance

If I were you I would try Either Dry Creek or even Willow. Go out towards the middle and you should find deep water of 60+ feet. As for Lakers I am trying for the first time tomorrow and will let you know how I did. I will be at Willow Creek.

Elk Creek was decent for us on Tuesday, mostly fished for rainbows near Turtle Rock.  Good action on glow jigs at sunset.
Fished inlet area on Wednesday, that area gets a lot of pressure!  Better fishing and 19" of ice.  Sunrise was best, but we managed good numbers of rainbows and browns until 2:30.
We found no good ice just west of Elk Creek yet.
Fishin' is better with a Malty Beverage!

Cool lefty. I'll see how busy it is at the bridge. Otherwise I was thinking going off Iola boat ramp area maybe. I'll be in my pewter dodge mega cab pulling 25 foot snowmobile trailer , hopefully can find a place to park 😁

Well we have a lot of rain and fog this morning which means there will be a lot of snow by Gunnison. Plus the darn truck acted up again and wouldn't start. Got it started and headed out. After just driving from Hotchkiss to Delta we turned around. Doens't look like it will let up.

Hope everything is Ok with your wife.
It has been raining here all day. THe West Elk Mountains are full of new snow. The trip to Gunnison would have been rough.

I would think so. But I never travel across it. I either go by the Boat ramp,Across to Willow or down to the Lake City Bridge.
