is this normal??
« on: Jan 13, 2011, 08:39 PM »
went to fox lake (Steuben) last night and got into the gills pretty good and when i left at dark they were still there and biting. I marked the spot on my gps and went back to the same coordinates tonight and after drilling approx 50 holes, i did not mark a single fish. Has anyone else had this happen??

Yep....happens everywhere....more with perch and crappie than gills, but if they were suspended where you were catching them, they likely aren't going to hang around for several days.  If there were weeds or something to hold them there, you should find a more consistent bite in the area.

happened to me last night....did real well on Tuesday during the storm iced about 20 nice gills...next evening 2 and I drilled about 30 holes compared to 4 the night before

guess thats why it is fishing and not catching!!!!

I've had that many times but usually find them in 50 holes. If you go back before you go check a lake map and chase the depth contour you caught the fish on. I have had to move up to 100 yards in the same bay from day to day to find the fish I was on the day before. hope that helps.

That is Fox Lake. That lake can be as productive as any lake in the state and it can also drive you crazy for a week at a time.

yah what he said. When their biting, tough to get up and walk away.

Maybe look at what depth they were at...then maybe a difference in pressure you said something about a storm?? ???
