Hm, most of the ice has a bit of pucker now, at least at Sunny Side.   Decaying weeds floating up to the ice and gas bubbles are making holes from 4" to 3 feet. Really need to be very alert with every step. My gentle walking makes/made water go up and down in those holes Monday.  And that, 30' from me. YIKES ! No report on Round Lake at the State Park, hm??   Safest is west of Sandpoint at the public dock on the river in Dover, or east to Pend Oreille Shores Resort, which has public access near the tennis court. Either place is wonderful just to swing by and see what is available. Free parking. And they are fishy.

Great report! Thanks! I was not aware that there was even fishable ice on the big lake! I have fond memories of fishing with my Dad at both Sunnyside and the condos.

Was on Avondale this morning early.  Caught 30 perch, but strangely enough no jumbos.  Marked fish in just about every hole. The board was interesting, but the ice was good away from the shore.

Round lake has 7 to 8" of good ice.  Fishing was a little slow.  2 trout and 11 perch in 4 hours.  But, hey its ice fishing....   Probably saw 8 or 10 others out there.  Most seemed to have at least a few fish.  You have to take what you can get on a poor ice year.

Still here checking in, but nothing to add to the conversation. We have not been on the ice once this year yet.  :-\

Yup, I think we're pretty much done with ice up here.  Next trip I'm going to be forced to either go down south again (hopefully they still have ice next week) or suck it up take the tarp off the boat and hit the walleye run on the Columbia/Spokane.

Worst part of the whole deal, we didn't even get a hot late ice bite, it seemed to switch from safe to unsafe in 3 days or less for most places.  >:(

Fished the west end of Fernan today. Soft on top but a good 4 inches of ice once you got away from the dock.  Maybe one or two more days early in the morning if the night time temp gets to freezing.

Im still here just haven't been able to check in much. I'm having a hard time deciding on what to do. Don't know if I should give steelhead fishing a shot or try and find some shed antlers

In a week, with all this rain, those antlers should show up nicely.   Good luck.     ;)2

Has anyone done any walleye fishing on either the Idaho or Washington side?  I don't have a boat, but have read that you can get them from shore at places like Moses lake. Is that accurate?

Hung up the shanty and put the pull sled and ice gear away.  Maybe that will bring on a cold snap.

A superstitious numerologist has a nice ring to it.

Take seven parts from each of your reels, line 'em up, say whoooosh and we'll get a Blue Norther for good ice.     ;)2

I know things are over for the season....but I was driving by Hoo Doo Lake (NW of Granite and Kelso in Bonner County)today and saw some ice out there.  Now I'm not thinking of going on it as there was not much left and it looked rotten,  but has anyone fished it before?  It got me wondering if it's worth trying for next year.

plfish  Save your time on checking out Hoo Doo lake. I took my canoe in there a couple of years ago. I put in at the road where the Hoo Doo cr goes under and went up stream through the outlet. I had 1 or 2 portages along the way because of obstacles blocking the cr.. Max depth that I saw was bout 7 or 8 ft. Most of the water was about 3 or 4 ft. I don't remember if I caught any fish but I did see some about 5-6 in. It was a pretty, but I wont be back.

So anyone getting ready for ice season  (checking lines, sleds, rods, and clothing for damages) I have been even got some new gear (two homemade sleds, more tip-ups, more hooks, a new pak-shak and some other gear. Best time to get it cause its all cheaper than when it is ice fishing season
