You drive 6 hours round trip and only get 2 hours of sleep for a derby with a top prize of a whopping $100 which probably about covers the gas.

You set your clock for 5 but end up waking up at 4 so you drive around a bit until your able to grab some bait.

This actually works quite well for jigs & trolling spoons.

You open water fish to scout ice fishing spots
You have enough tip-ups that you divide then into specific groups ("mine" and the "loaners") (true)

You head to one of your favorite ponds later than you wanted, stay until all bait is gone, and catch more fish than those that were there before you. (Happens a lot in late spring)

Trying to explain to newbies about "the magic hours" on the water, and they ask if it's like "happy hours" at the bar.

When you would rather spend time catching fish through the ice with your friends, than sitting on a bar stool at the sports bar watching your favorite team playing in the NCAA Tournament!

When your fishing buddy next to you wakes you up in your chair with a scream in your ear Fish On!

When it time to "walk the plank maties" Argh! just one more time,before ice out!

you are cruising up and down the lure aisles looking for newly discounted stuff as they bring the long rods and summergear. believe it or not...I was actually out looking for an auger extension today for my eskimo. everything is on sale and we still had 24 " of ice left as last weekend!

On that note, when you go home after Digsafe has been there, and your first thought is "flaaaag!", then you wonder what it would be like for real....to have all the flags go up at once.

when you have a back up generator to run your bait tank if power goes out. but isnt big enough to run anything else in the house. true story, wife thinks im nuts.
When you start spending sundays in september catching bait to use in january.
When you take a day off from fishing and your worried about what your missing all day.
