i am thinking of going ice fishing near grand rapids, this year and wanted to know what lakes to fish, what presentation to use and how deep to fish...i am from Michigan, this is my vacation...And if any body knows of any bait shops, and please give Phone numbers...and hotels please....thanks Jim

From Grand Rapids, you want to head up to Lake Winnibigoshish...Big Winnie...and enjoy some of the best perch fishing around.  You can also find walleye and the occasional northern.  Do an internet search for 'Lake Winnibigoshish and Resorts' and you will find all kinds of info.  Many of the resorts offer fish house rentals, too.  Better hurry, though...the resorts tend to fill up.

A little longer drive, and you can get to Red Lake and some dandy crappie fishing.
