Title: Brook Trout Techniques
Post by: DFunkk23 on Jan 06, 2017, 09:33 AM
Hey people, just wondering what everyone uses for brook trout! I usually fish water <12' deep with small shiners and this year started using 3-4" sucker minnows, with the tails cut off. I use an 8lb mono leader and a #6 Glow hook or #8 Mustad Neon Octopus hook on my tipups with a sliding egg sinker about 2' away from my bait. I jig using dead smelts 2-4" in length; on a small quick-strike rig consisting of a small treble in the back and a single hook in front, as I usually retain most brook trout I catch. What do you guys usually use?

I simply jig with a Buck Shot Rattle Spoon tipped with a couple of waxies....seems to just about always work well.
